We just added a 3-star DB from Duncanville - Tre'shon Devones. He was going to sign with Air Force (also had offers from Baylor, Syracuse, Washington State and Iowa State) but never signed the NLI with Air Force. And committed to Rice yesterday. He becomes our 2nd highest rated 2019 recruit.

Today we got the commitment from a JUCO DB out in California. He's probably just going to help with depth, but we have now signed 7 graduate transfers (with 1 more possibly to come), 3 JUCOs, and then one of the highest rated HS classes in the conference.

I'm not sure how they will all mesh together in the fall, but the roster turnover has been impressive.
Good news.
Good for Rise. We need a strong performance from the other Owls.

I didn’t forget it cuz I never knew it.
This is great news for Rice and C-USA. It is an early indicator that the Owls hired the right coach. I hope to see similar results from UTEP's new coaching staff.

Owls are actually low on the intelligence scale compared to most other birds, which makes the 'wise-old-owl' adage a curiosity, but you guys are gettin' some good gets there. lol
04-cheers
Owls are the cutest birds

I guess they had to change it cause people kept thinking it was the
Charla Towels
And WKU already took Towels as a mascot.
clt says owls are not that wise.

North Texas has added two 3 Star recruits in the last 2 days and have now passed Rice for 1st place in C-USA and 2nd in the G5 behind only Cincinnati on 247 Sports. Yes it is early, but it is an indication that North Texas plans to be among the top classes again this year too.

Official 2020 C-USA Football Rankings

Not according to the official rankings. You know the site that doesn't just give 3 stars to every single recruit. The site that has been around since 1998.

Ha! There in nothing official about Rivals rankings. They haven't even given a rating to our QB recruit Renfro, who passed on offers from Central Florida, LA Tech, WKU, and UTSA. The only thing official about Rivals is that their rankings are "officially" garbage.

And, 247 doesn't give out 3 Stars to every recruit. In fact, North Texas was the only C-USA program last year that had every recruit rated 3 stars.

How do you know that it is too early in the game? When almost half of the teams have not even had a single recruit :)

I'm not quite sure what your are asking, but my statement was a in reference to North Texas landing most of their recruits early in the process last season, and holding all but one until signing day. We seem to be following that same pattern again, which should allow us to sign one of the better classes again. Although I doubt we will have the best class. North Texas signs full classes, while a few programs in C-USA over-sign.

What I am saying is that trying to rank recruiting classes at this point of the game is a futile endeavor.

I agree to an extent. For most programs it is futile. Most G5 programs make their moves late. We don't do that anymore.

By the way, North Texas just landed their 9th recruit, the 75th ranked offensive guard in the class of 2020. 3 Star lineman Kade Bond (6'3.5" 281 pounds).
