I went in to check why I wasn't seeing people's sigs today, and verified that I had "display signatures" checked. Unchecked it, then checked it. Did nothing else. Then I went back to work. I just got home and checked the board, and I noticed that a thread with 43 posts was 3 pages. I thought I must have inadvertently switched to 20 posts per page, so I went to change it back... 50 posts per page is no longer an option? 40 is the most? Why? Have I done something to my settings?
Hello hello hello...
There are posts on the page that are visible to admins and mods but not to regular posters. So while you got a chunk of 50 posts to read, 7 of them are not visible to you.

I don't know if you misread my post or what, but this is what I'm talking about:

See where it says "Show 40 posts per page"? There used to be an option that was "Show 50 posts per page". It's not there anymore. I was viewing 50 posts per page as of May first. I did the actions I described in my OP, and now I can not view "50 posts per page."
Ahhh, OK. Yes, that's correct. When Google was swapped out an ad setup where Google is bidding against other people (instead of holding its own internal auction) it also changed the number of display units per page in a thread from 3 to 4. Because 50 isn't cleanly divisible by 3, it caused weird issues with two ads very close to each other at the bottom of pages. So accordingly it was trimmed down to 40 to be evenly divisible. With Aurora will come the ability to set that to be much much higher for those in ad free. If you want a huge # of posts per page with no ads, go ad free and send me a PM and I'll manually override your settings in the database.
No, that's okay. I'm just glad to find out I'm not actually crazy.
