Who'd have thought in the preseason the Cajuns would be at risk of not making the tournament?

The Cajuns were probably overvalued being picked to win the West. But no one expected this. And, a lot of things have contributed to it.

The Cajuns returned LF Bourgeois, RF Lahare, 3B Windham, SS Cantrelle and 2B Kasuls. Also anticipated the return of C Monica and LHP Leger.

Cajuns also recruited a weekend starter (Young) and a closer (Bradford.)

Bourgeois and Windham were lost for the year. Lahare missed the better part of a month. Leger has not been healthy all season. Bradford was shut down after two appearances for Tommy John surgery. Young wasn't healthy the first half of the year.

The Cajuns' pitching staff is struggling to throw strikes and that's the biggest problem. They walked 10 and hit three on Sunday and unfortunately, that's been the norm rather than the exception. Then when they get a good pitching performance (Burk on Saturday) they don't hit well enough.

Now, the Cajuns have Tony Robichaux. He'll get this fixed. Sooner rather than later. But there's just been too much to overcome this season.

Cajuns travel to Coastal, host Georgia State and go to ULM. They still have a chance to get back to Conway for the tournament. But it's far from a done deal.

Sometimes it's just not your year. I have a feeling the Cajuns will be back to playing at their normal level by next season.
Louisiana South Alabama and Coastal are all below their norm this year. The only team we have that is at-large material this year is Texas St so we should get 2 into regionals if someone other than Texas State wins the tourney
It’s wild that this years annual Cajuns/Coastal Carolina shindig is a battle between the 6th and 11th best teams

That's tied for 5th place with App State.
I ll give credit to App St. Their baseball program has made some big steps forward this year
As if our pitching hasn’t struggled enough, our Friday night starter JoJo Booker went out early in the Georgia Southern series and is now out for the year. It’s unclear if he’ll need surgery. Booker knew it as soon as the injury happened, as he motioned the medical staff onto the field.

Haven't had a winning season since 2013. We were due.
Bobcat/Panther series start moved to Saturday . . . Due to lightening in the San Marcos area.
AState sent out the quietest "Friday game time moved up" press release in history yesterday. I think the hope was App wouldn't notice and would fail to show up. It didn't work.
To Summarize the oddity that is the Sun Belt this year

UL is in 11th.
Coastal has a legitimate shot of having to play in the Play In round.
App could actually win the East
Georgia Southern is Winning the East
Texas State is just better than everyone
South is hanging on to a tournament spot by a thread
Little Rock has the 2nd best record in the league.
Arkansas State is 7-2 against the Eastern Division and 2-10 against the West.
Georgia State stinks this year (Okay, that's not exactly odd)
Perhaps App really did miss the memo on what time the game started. AState leads 7-1 in the 5th, which is like the only lead we've held in a league game in 4 weeks.
Astate beats App 10-2
Troy smacks us 10-3. The Jekyll and Hyde GS team is crazily unpredictable. The whole Eastern division except GaSt is capable of winning the division. 5 teams within 2 games of each other
Ragin Cajuns take game 1 @ CCU 10-0.
