My Cardinals are on the clock.

I am hoping they can trade out of number one.

All I can say is it sure is a nice change that my Browns aren't at the top of the first round for the first time in forever. They were going to pick 17th but traded that to the NY Giants for OBJ. Thank you very much...
Lot of secrecy this year, Jon, I take it you do not want Murray. Hopefully Broncos do not go above first round, too many other needs. Would like to see them get a about in round 3 or 4.

Not a real Murray fan. Of course if the Cardinals draft him, I will support him

I wasn't a fan of Baker Mayfield when the Browns drafted him and that all changed after he was inserted in the starting lineup. Not saying Murray is an apple to an apple but smaller QB's in the right system and with the supporting players can be very effective in the NFL. Murray in Kingsbury's system would seem to make a lot of sense compared to Rosen. Rosen will also be coveted in a trade that can give Zona more draft capital as well.
Tonight's First Round draft order...

Raiders use a high first-round pick on a guy who should have gone late first round or early second round. Doesn't matter who is running the Raiders (or where) -- it's always "Groundhog Day" there.
Defensive lineman a premium thus far but this was a deep draft for that position:

1. QB
2. DE
3. DT
4. DE
5. ILB
6. QB
7. DE/LB
8. TE
9. DT
10. ILB
Just kidding, Josh!

11. OT
12. DE
13. DT
14. OG
15. QB

Half of the first round picks are in and 10 of 16 are on defense, and 8 of those are dee lineman/edge rushers.
Hopefully Broncos trade that 2nd rounder from Steelers for Rosen.

Has there been a draft in recent memory with this many defensive lineman taken in the first round? Again, it was considered the draft's deepest position and dee lineman are often a premium. My Browns need a corner and linebacker and I know there are a lot of both positions available when they pick #49 in the second round. To be continued...
Quote:According to a league source, the Cardinals and general manager Steve Keim began shopping Rosen in earnest minutes before the draft began at 8:00 p.m., and were seeking a first-round choice in return that no team was willing to give up. Rosen only found out about the team’s intention to draft Murray, the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner, moments before the pick. He found out from his agent only after Murray was seen in the green room taking a phone call while the Cardinals were on the clock. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury called Rosen minutes later.

At the same time, the Cardinals returned calls from Washington, Miami and the New York Giants, the three teams most interested in Murray, per a source close to the situation.

By asking for a first-round pick in return for Rosen, the Cardinals effectively priced themselves out of making a deal. Especially because the market was limited to teams such as the Giants, Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins.

Now, the Giants will proceed with Jones as Manning’s presumptive heir apparent, at some point in the future, and the Cardinals must manage what is destined to be an awkward quarterbacks room with Rosen and Murray on the roster. Or else settle for far less than they were asking for, and probably could have gotten before handing in a draft card with Murray’s name on it.

Rosen or Not Rosen?

I was a bit surprised that Rosen was not dealt. If I'm the Cardinals, you trade Rosen tonight to the highest bidder. Otherwise, you have a QB distraction problem on your hands and two #1 draft picks that need playing time to develop their game. Let's be honest, Murray is Kingsbury's bread and butter and he didn't take him #1 overall to sit behind Rosen who remains unproven as well.
Dolphins give up their second round pick (#62) and a 2020 fifth round pick for Rosen. Good value in that trade for Miami and time will tell on Rosen but he gets a fresh start.

Cards draft a WR with the pick from Miami to add a weapon for Murray.

Win-win for both teams.

If anybody is ever going to play with a chip, no make that a Boulder, on their shoulder it is Rosen. I think he will end up with a better career than Murrey

Glad I'm not a Giants fan when you factor in the OBJ trade. LOL.
