And we lose yet another assistant coach. This one is certainly bizarre, leaving for another program in the same league.
Don't get this one at all, was just talking about the program on a podcast with Ingram, and Balbinot, sounded optimistic.
who left? and where did he go?

Kyle Barlow, he's heading down to Athens.
Money talks, BS walks... I don't get it either. Maybe Ohio's former HC will join us here in Toledo? Same thing happened when Deandre Haynes left Kent to come here. Granted he eventually ended up at Michigan. Look at our FB Team. How many former assistants at NIU or BGSU, so on now coach at UT?
I'm pretty happy with our staff make up, if Lauf, Ingram, and Massey stay with who ever we pickup it gives us some goo diversity and local flare. If would be nice to add an older experienced assistant.

Make Lauf an assistant, hire a new director of operations (maybe a UT grad) and we're done.

Barlow better get busy, the Bobcats have 5 open scholarships for 2019.
Boals also has hired former Rocket asst Lamar Thornton. Thornton served as a graduate assistant and video coordinator at Toledo under Kowalczyk in the 2016-17 season
A possible replacement for Barlow is Angres Thorpe who was on TK's staff during his first four years in Toledo and also at Green Bay. Thorpe left for UMKC when his best friend became the head coach there and has been on their staff for the past 5 seasons, but UMKC just fired that head coach. So, Thorpe needs a job and Toledo needs an assistant coach.
Maybe Coach Barlow should've waited a few days so he'd have a shot at the Cincinnati job. Has UT named his replacement yet?

Thorpe would be a nice choice. We'll have to see if the interests & needs align.
was Barlow the #2 or #3 assistant? Massey would have the first chair and then there's Ingram and Barlow at asst with Lauf as staff below asst level.

I also believe Thorpe will be back

I hope we don't get into a situation where friends are getting jobs. Haven't we seen that with football?

I think Thorpe would be a coupe if he could be brought back. Angres offers an experienced coach, a good recruiter, a coach with Chicago connections, and someone TK has had success with.
Toledo was #1 in the West. Ohio was last in the East.

Not exactly upward mobility.
Maybe. Keeping a top program top might not gather upward mobility as much as moving a program with a lot of potential up from the bottom. OU is a popular school. Getting recruits there should be a piece of cake if the coaching is even just adequate.

A bucolic setting is not for everybody. 3 hours away from a city with pro sports.
