Saw we offered a 2020 hs kid named Kenneth Lofton Jr. Haven't been able to confirm if that is or isn't Kenny's kid.

Would make sense - Kenny was a heck of a basketball player.
Verbal commits says Tervell Beck signed with us. He was a big recruit out of Cleveland a couple years ago. Played the last two seasons at UNLV. I remember him being at games his Sr season.

He announced he was transferring to Cleveland State earlier this summer. Wonder what happened.
Yeah I saw that too. I suppose it's possible that it's a mistake on verbal commits since I haven't seen anything else confirming it yet. Since he's used two years of eligibility so far I imagine he'll be enrolled this year at whatever school he's going with. Currently he's not listed on either school's roster. So we'll see I suppose.

Whatever the circumstances, he has a ton of talent and should contribute as soon as he's eligible. Welcome home!

I don't think so. But I also know nothing about the circumstances. Maybe he won't actually be attending until next year or maybe he'll pay his way for a year? I think Edwin did that for at least a semester right? As an in state resident it would be cheaper at least.
This probably belongs in a 2020 recruiting thread but I don't feel like creating one right now. Verbal commits is reporting we got a commitment from James Jordan a JUCO guard. He's listed as a 6'5" PG not sure if he'll actually play PG here. His numbers from his freshman season are very impressive. https://www.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2018-1...jordannkvn

Note: I haven't been able to officially confirm, but I believe he is NOT the same James Jordan that was Michael's father.
Between him sharing MJ's dad's name and his name being a combination of the last names of probably the two most famous and compared players he's not exactly easy to find videos of. Here's one https://youtu.be/jxztUEerZhE
Looks like Beck was officially added to the roster. Interesting roster this year 16 players in total including the two priority walk-ons (Nalls and King). 5 seniors and two spots already filled in next year's class (Jordan and Beck) it will be interesting to see how the walk-ons are handled. If they're truly given a shot to compete for minutes and try to win a roster spot we could in theory have 4 of the 5 available for next year already spoken for.

Beck left UNLV after a coaching change.
He is enrolled and will be eligible for this season

Will be curious to see if all these veteran guys in particular are mature enough to see/know there is only one ball and so many minutes ... If not, what looks good now could smell pretty bad down the road.

Here's hoping for the best ...
Me thinks that this addition is more significant than most would assume.
That's interesting. Looks like he got a waiver from the NCAA. I wonder what the details were on that. I highly doubt a coaching change would be enough for a waiver but I'll take it. I think he's going to be a very good MAC player.

It will be really interesting to see what the minutes breakdown ends up being. 15 eligible players on the roster. I'd bet we'll see a redshirt or two handed out.
Whittington will obviously command big minutes at one front court spot and if fully healthy the assumption would be Pippen would as well. Personally I'm really excited to see what Castillo brings as he seems like he could be a defensive game changer. No idea what to expect from the two freshman and now Beck is in the mix. Normally guys with his build end up as 4's at Kent but we could have some pretty intriguing lineups with him at the 3. It seems like our front court is going to be a little more mobile than past seasons so at least on paper stretching the court on offense and getting out on the shooters on defense wouldn't be a huge concern. Excited to see how the staff pieces the rotations together.

One thing you do have to give Kent the benefit of the doubt on ... the Flashes usually figure things out at some point in the season - sometimes early, sometimes late - then its just a matter of how well they match up/compare with the rest of the MAC.

No ??? at this point this team has some very interesting pieces and parts.
Tallahassee Community College.

If you remember back a couple months, I noted that a number of MAC players were transferring to TCC. Well, here's another. To date, TCC has added (all from D-1 programs):

DeAndre Gholston (Kent State)
Christian Guess (Missouri)
Jordan Guest (Boston University)
Eric Hester (Akron)
Isaih Moore (College of Charleston)
Tariq Silver (Eastern Michigan)
Daivon Stephens (Eastern Michigan)

That's 7 D-1 recruits that have transferred to Tallahassee Community College to play next season. SEVEN!!!!

Granted, none of these guys made any type of impact for their teams last season but they were all D-1 recruits and two of them (Guest and Hester) were 3* recruits.

I just find this whole thing interesting. Thanks for indulging me
