First started going to NIU games as a kid during his playing career. He was a fantastic player. One of 2 NIU players to ever win the MAC MVP.

Truly, sad news for Huskieland. Terrific athlete. Dedicated team player. One of the first players I watched develop and grow into a great athlete at NIU. He played a few games in '75, the year I graduated, and just got better and better thereafter. Serious and heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Arguably the best NIU basketball player I ever saw not named Jim Bradley. He could shoot lights out from anywhere on the court. The night in 1979 when he broke the school scoring record at the time he needed something like 30+ points against Illinois State, and he broke the record by scoring at least 40 that night. Hell of a player. Played in the NBA for a few years after NIU with the Utah Jazz. He and I both attended NIU over the same four years. I'm 61, and that is way too young to die. RIP Paul.
