Anything affecting FedEx is Tiger related. Unfortunately, a "dismal" earnings report will result - along other possible measures - no employee bonuses this year.

Less money for FedEx means less money available for Tiger related corporate contributions and less money for FedEx employees means less money available for Tiger related activities (e.g., season tickets). 03-banghead

This is temporary, hopefully we can strike a deal with China within the next few weeks which will alleviate a lot of fedexs issues

As a 36.5 year employee, I can tell you that one quarterly earnings report of the approximately 180 quarterly earnings reports we have had since 1974 is not going to materially change anything from the company's perspective.

And people who want to support the Tigers, Grizzlies, etc. etc. will do so, bonus or not.

This has zero impact on my support.

I'll just have to drink cheaper wine for awhile.
Amazon doing their own shipping now hurts

Amazon is not even 2% of FEDEX business.

This has more to do with China and the TNT acquisition than anything.
Unfortunately u don't hit yo numbers u don't share in the gold
Hopefully this gets turned around.
Some politicians will do away with planes and trucks, because if they don't the world is over in
12 years, I heard this from a reliable source cnn

Well I heard from a reliable source that the current administration's trade war (easily won!) is hindering global economic growth and has had an impact on international shipping which is hurting FedEx earnings.

Please keep your politics in the Political Forum. You are very aware that CNN didn't report that and that you read/saw it on Fox.
We are in early days of a global recession and all the numbers back it up. FedEx just sees it early. Turkey is in recession, Japan seeing decline in exports, China was starting to see economic issues before the trade issues, the whole Britexit, etc. Hopefuly it doesnt get as bad as FedEx is expecting...

When Amazon starts using its transportation network to ship non amazon products. It will hurt. Also. Amazon may be less than 2% of fedex’s business. But the residual effect is that amazon is taking business away from fedex’s biggest customers. Like lands end, ll bean, hp, dell....etc...etc..so on and so forth. So the statement that Amazon only represents 2% of FedEx business is accurate, but FedEx is losing a whole lot of business from all of the residuals. Also, many of Fedex’s long-standing customers have switched to the Amazon transportation network already.

FedEx Better change or they will be heavily affected over the next decade. Companies that refuse to change and accept that their competition is kicking their butt will go the way of circuit city, RadioShack, blockbuster, toys are us, Payless shoe store etc. etc. so on and so forth.

Please expand on which long-standing customers have already switched. I have not read or seen anything that states this or provides enough detail to make this statement. So I'm curious.
The Trump curse strikes again. What happened to all the money that was supposed to go into the pockets of employees after the big corporate tax break was passed?! Unbelievable.
I know of a FedEx employee, personally, who took the buyout after 38 years. This person is going to be able to retire early and maintain insurance because of the incredible vision and adaptability of the FedEx business model. This is a blip, and FedEx will recover - that I have faith in. I have seen it happen multiple times in the past 4 decades. If more had taken their buyout package, it would have helped the ones staying on. It wasn't the first time they've done this, and it may not be the last. Its not uncommon for companies to do this, either. So, in the immortal words of Alfred E. Neumann:

What, me worry?
Nothing happened!! Everyone still has an increase in net pay from a year ago as a result of the tax cut.... Bro pay attention....GTG

Ask that reliable source on global economic growth why emerging markets funds are up about 12% YTD on average. If the global economic growth was so 'hindered' these funds would be taking it on the chin. China's economy is not suffering as a result of tariffs that impact 2% of it. Maybe you should not be listening to your 'reliable source'.
