How long do 5 schools have to be together to tell Judy to screw herself and form a conference?

Not surprised, basically the Eastern division hates going to Frisco. Everyone except for those weirdos in Miami.

Sure, looks like a cool place. But it's not where we should be playing our conference championship. Whatever, this conference loves Texas, why don't they just become the Texas conference.
The key statement is no one made a competing bid. Get the frustrated five together to support a second bid in an eastern time zone city.
The sooner the east can tell Judy to take a hike the better. I hate this conference more and more every day. I'd rather the east would just secede, and add LU and JMU (or GSU and App st if they want) and call it a day. I'd rather be indy in football and A10 for everything else. Heck, Id rather be FCS and in the A10 for everything else. We probably would have won the A10 this year in front of a couple thousand ODU fans in Brooklyn, and been a 7 seed in the tournament. If UMass and LU can be successfully independent, so can we. This conference experiment has been a disaster on nearly every front.

That 4-8 season ODU suffered through last year? The worst in school history? That's UMass's best record in FBS. And with far worse attendance than ODU. And an 0-2 record against ODU in FBS. So other than access to New England clam chowder and lobster rolls, in what way is UMass football successful?

Liberty's played one season of FBS indie ball. Let's see how this shakes out over the years before we start declaring them "successful".

I guess ODU could have won the A10 this season but considering the winner was their 6th seed, it's probably more likely that someone random would have bitten them in the arse. And fans would be complaining about games against Fordham, St. Bonaventure (when they're not good) and La Salle.

Whatever flaws CUSA has — and I think everyone from all four corners of the conference can agree it has in spades — the A-10 isn't without its issues either. Nobody willingly walks away from football conference affiliation to be independent except for BYU and Umass. BYU is a sui generis situation. UMass, well, we covered that already.
There’s a thing call an airplane. Use it. American and Southwest have hubs here. Delta and United have direct flights to multiple East Coast cities. Spirit has a mini hub for those who travel on a budget. In other words, flying here is cheap. There’s plenty of competition. If flying nonstop, it’s a 2-3 hour flight from Charlotte, Norfolk, Cincinnati (Marshall), Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Nashville, New Orleans (USM), and Birmingham. You guys already know it’s going to be in early March for the next two years. Plan accordingly. If you can plan a bowl game trip on a 2-3 week notice, you can plan a conference tournament a year in advance.

Nobody is burning $2,500 and 4 days off of work and spending their annual family vacation in Frisco. Just isn't going to happen. We have a direct flight into DFW and I ran the numbers. $2,500 is a conservative estimate. In what middle-class household is that going to go over in?

That's exactly right.

I have a family thing in Atlanta in April, so the round trip from FtL to Atlanta for 4 + car rental is pushing past $1000 and we're not even talking hotels and dining because we're staying with family. And there would still be game ticket prices to consider. (FtL to Dallas ticket prices would be even higher)
Unfortunately, I don't see any conference taking the Frustrated 5. Or there being enough frustrated teams from other conferences to form a new one.

Men's tournament in Norfolk. Women's in Murfreesboro. Done. Or.....drop four more teams from the field and hold them in the same city on the same court. Done.

I'm sure Frisco is nice. But the tourney set up is a joke. We all saw the empty seats and curtains. Bush league.
I'm all for doing home courts for the higher seeds up to and including the Champ game. If you can't put together a reasonable destination tournament then stop trying and do what is best for the teams and fans.

If it weren't for the football playoff contract and NCAA autobid I'm sure it would have already happened. When the playoff contract is renegotiated there may be some movement.

The autobid is still there, just like it was still there for the Big East when they split from the old Big East. I think the qualifier is there has to be 5 teams that have been together for 5 years. WKU, MU, MTSU, UNCC, and ODU should qualify. Our ADs just need to grow a set of balls. Invite App St, JMU, Coastal Carolina, and the Georgia schools and rotate the tournament between Charlotte or Myrtle Beach, Richmond, and somewhere in Tennessee.

I wouldn't want to lose UAB, but UAB would want to keep Southern Miss and SoMiss probably would rather stay with the Texas 4 and LaTech.
Considering that any where that host will be a flight away from FIU/FAU, why would you expect us to join the bitchfest about bus league-ing the conference?

This USM fan would like to keep UAB and La Tech. CUSA is already spread out enough as it is and those 2 are the only ones within 4 hours of Hattiesburg...meaning it can be a day trip for football or basketball games for local fans. For baseball you could go saturday morning and watch saturday and Sunday with only 1 night hotel.

I don't think this is the case anymore.

Is NT making the Frisco bid? I just heard they extended the C-USA tournament for a few years in Frisco and I didn't hear anything about a schools bid.

Frisco itself is, I believe.

It is not a good situation when we only get one bid. We should all be asking our ADs for an explanation.
