Aresco got the AAC 6.94. Decent bump from current 2.1 BUT...
100% Contract with ESPN tier 3 included
Half of the fb games on espn plus
75% of basketball games on espn plus
Contract goes all the way to 2031-32
Espin protects own self interest if teams defect by reducing payment
No open market negotiations—lazy.
CBS is now an enemy, as they got shut out. See P6 basketball graphics.
Aresco gets a cartel 5 salary. Paid way too much for what he does.
Maybe not fired, but definitely shouldn’t be making $8 million a year... what a joke.

Color me extremely disappointed. While it's a raise Aresco postured for this deal for 2 years. This was the best you can do making the money your make? Once again ESPN killed us in this deal. They will make bank while schools forgo valuable property rights paid under-market for proven ratings. Poor job by the AAC negotiating team and being paid P6 $$$'s my butt!!!

lol this is the best ECU can hope for...just be happy with your $7mil. It's a raise for you.

For the left over Big East schools...not so much. If anybody should be mad, it should be us.
Aresco should not be faulted for the tilt toward ESPN+. The AAC, IMO, is the vanguard of the inevitable movement towards subscription for sports programming like ESPN+.

Correction $2 million.... that is still bad. He is maybe worth $500,000.

Too bad SEC, ACC, PAC, and BIG are already in the vanguard of establishing their own digital subscription service when their contracts expire in the next 5. We'll still be stuck on ESPN+ trying to explain to recruits there isn't a difference, even though they're seperate and we're in the same place as FCS schools and hurling on ESPN+.

the article said no where close to the amount you are insinuating to be on espn+

The AAC does not have the profile to support its own network. We have to live within the reality of our situation.

Aresco makes $1.6M per year.
Cartel 5 commish salaries in 2016 were: Pac-12's Larry Scott: $4.8 million; Big 12's Bob Bowlsby: $3.1 million; B1G's Jim Delany: $2.5 million; SEC's Greg Sankey: $1.9 million

Where has 75% of basketball or 50% of football to ESPN+ been put out? It hasn't.

I agree that this is too long of a contract, but I imagine the negotiation was $40M per year at 6 years or $83M per year at 12 years.

Aresco was making $1.6 Mil on a $2.1 Mil per school deal. That's like Larry/Bob/Delany/Sankey making $25 Mil+ per year in relation to their TV deals.

Aresco was/is WAY overpaid.
He should get a raise if he can get UCONN in the Big East

I see your raise and double it if he can get SMU into the WAC.

Overpaid is open for discussion. Im sure the Presidents will.
Fired seems an overreaction to ne, but hey, that option is available to the Presidents also.

Cartel salary is silly.
"I could have negotiated that contract!" is silly.
And Im specifically thinking about two posters who are just factually wrong roughly 80% of their posts.
