And the guys still on the roster were good players and good recruits. A few of them still on the team. 2 starters on this years team are Wades players for crying out loud.

Actually 4 starters are Wade recruits. Santos-Silva was recruited and signed LOI by Wade.
Evans is the only player contributing that Rhodes brought in. Samir is the only transfer of significance. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. It’s like arguing with a brick wall. Next year you’ll find out if Rhodes can coach, it will be his team. Definitely will be a down year.

The only player contributing Rhoades brought in???

This is not even remotely close to accurate.

And Santos Silva May have been recruited by wade but Rhoades got him to stay after wade left, and the kid is an absolute stud.

He’s very good, don’t disagree. But he was a Wade recruit like I said. 4/5 top scorers and total minutes are Wade players, the other being Evans. You have a comprehension issue. Next year you will find out what kind of coach Rhoades is when they’re all his players. Bet VCU doesn’t make the tournament.

And you are apparently an illiterate.

You said, word for word, that Evans is the only player contributing that Rhodes brought in.

This is patently false advertising most of their top bench players are freshman and sophomores that are Rhoades recruits. Read it again, if you want me to further embarrass you with statistics.

There top 3 scorers off the bench are all Rhoades guys.

Try again.

You are totally clueless and embarrassing yourself. Go back and read what you said - you said that Rhoades built this team into a top 25 and took over a mess. The top 5 of 6 players in minutes played are all Wade players. We’re not talking about players 8,9,10 off the bench. Give up you lose again. Next year is Rhoades team.

Which makes him an ill fit for VCU. The natural structure of the world is more in alignment when there is a human skunk, such as Will Wade, in charge up in Richmond.

Yeah I loved it when he stated in the Richmond Times Dispatch after beating LSU he was going home to have a Yuenling Beer. So Yuenling sent him a case of it. Real classy. Reminds me of some Blane Taylor behavior.

I don't see much basis for assessing someone's character based upon their beer preference.

But if forced to do so: Yuengling drinker = solid person.

Yeah alcohol made Blaine Taylor a very solid person and coach. It isn't a great way to promote yourself or your program. I don t want a coach talking this stuff.

There's a huge difference between enjoying a beer and being an alcoholic

PS: I'm very glad Blaine has been able to turn his life around. But the point still stands
I love that Ramen thinks that a coach recruiting ONE starter in two years makes him a quality recruiter.

I am old enough to remember when folks were tooting JJ's horn for managing to hold on to the commitment from Denzel Taylor.

This is a cute thread gone from the Jeff Jones Appreciation Thread to the Mike Rhoades B.S. Thread.

Because some people who have no self control have to make the exact same statement after each and every loss.
Really nothing to appreciate....Nothing changes.
Jeff gets a pass this year for what he did last season. But I expect to see some seriously big improvement next season.
If this is an appreciation thread, keep it that way.

We lost two first team all conference players. An early season struggle, shouldn’t be a surprise. By conference play, we’ll be fine. Probably end up between 4th and 6th.

But we seem to be getting worse, not better. UNI, St. Joes and NE aren't terrible teams and we hung with those squads. ODU losing to JMU, GMU, WM, VCU (and probably Richmond) in one season is a bit much to handle for this fan.
Young teams go through this. Sometimes they take two steps back. We’ll truly see how good of a coach Jones is by how we look in early February.
I don’t appreciate a coach who can only get to 1 NCAA tourney game a decade and can’t win big games when they matter.

You can appreciate his blind squirrel run last year if you want, but to me, his multiple first round CUSA tourney exits are a far better measure of his “successes”.

Then this year we are back to square one.

I’m not even remotely impressed.

So Rhoades gets no credit for keeping Santos Silva but Jones gets credit for keeping freeman.

GOT IT lol

We lost a ton last year. There was hope that Green could step in and take over team but it hasnt happened. And Dickens has been awful while Kalu has been foul prone.

This was always gonna be a rebuilding year; just didnt expect it to be this bad. Hopefully they improve as the year goes on. Very young team.
This team ******* sucks. ODU has zero to root for.
