Western playing well early with a five point edge.
Central starting to kick butt
CMU it is
Remember when the “experts” picked Miami to finish second in the East and also picked up a vote to win the tournament?

Remember when the “experts” picked EMU to win the West and also picked up three votes to win the tournament?

That was cute.
They also picked CMU and BG to finish last in their divisions and both finished second.
I believe most of the experts on MAC basketball reside on this website. Although if we are smart, we won’t take a pre season poll and ruin our reputation.

Or at least visit this website regularly so they can write something semi intelligent in the daily rag. Or at least in the E version....once a week.

It’s good being an expert.
One of the things I hate about sports media is there's no accountability for the "experts" after the fact. A buddy and I have talked for years about how we want to make a website to keep track of ESPNs NBA and NFL draft expert's results and offer statistical analysis of how good they are. That way when you see someone like Mel Kiper claiming definitively on draft night that Russell Wilson will be a career backup you'll know you shouldn't put any stock in it because he's wrong more than he's right.

That's something I love about former athletes on sports shows. They're so intensly competitive that they remind each other when they're wrong. On Inside the NBA they starter doing a new thing where when someone makes a strong claim they write it on a Post-It note and put it up on the wall. That way they can come back to it and brag or rip on the guy at the end of the season.
Great points, anti-zip. I think twitter has magnified/made everything worse. Screwballs like Mary Kay Cabit and Tony Grossi can just cite “sources” and spout out anything they want and people actually take it as gospel. They tout themselves for getting one right and say nothing about the 20 they butchered.

It’s not just twitter. Remember Jeane Dixon? She predicted the Kennedy assasination and turned it into a 30 year newspaper career. I don’t think she ever got one right after that
I'm sick of predictions. If people could really predict things they'd be filthy rich. I also remember Tony Grossi saying he didn't want the Browns to draft Mayfield. He said something to the effect of "not on this team, in this division, on this field." Good call, Tony.

In fairness to Grossi, predicting that the Browns would screw up a draft pick isn't exactly playing Nostradamus.
