Is starting!! Secret weapon
Hahaha. Love the shrewd season long sandbagging by Rowe. Dukes are now favored by double digits
Banks is dressed, but looks like his left hand is wrapped pretty good. Wilson + Smith starting. Going "big" to start.
So do we know what Phillips did to end his college career? Had to be significant to end his senior season before the tourney even started
Over/under for Cam Smith Dunks? 15?
Tried to run an alley oop to him on on the first play
Dukes haven’t run the alley oop
Since Nation and Aj Davis. Easy 2 -3 buckets a game and demoralizes the opposition.

I'm curious as well...but he looked completely disinterested all season. One of Rowes best moves this year was burying him on the bench.

Agree.....Phillips had the worst body language I think I have ever seen out of a player at JMU. He obviously has athletic ability/talent but always seemed like he did not care. I do not mind taking transfers, but I would never take someone on their 3rd school.....to me that says they are the issue.
The bigger question I have is why did it take until the last two games of the season for Cam Smith to make an appearance? If Cam Smith was going to do the jump ball in the last two games why not have him do the jump in the other 31.

Seems to me HCLR was making a statement to the fanbase as well as his critics unfortunately not sure as a fan I understood what it was.

Throughout the year, I sat behind the bench and witnessed his demeanor from a close distance and wondered why he was still on the team. When coach finally bit the bullet and dismissed him from the team my opinion of HCLR went up.

There was one game where Phillips played like he was trying to get fouled out asap, playing like he was PO'd at everybody. A couple of fouls looked almost flagrant, his stat line for 9 minutes of play included 5 fouls and 2 turnovers, in no way helping the team IMO.

It is odd but when I asked I was reminded that there is a difference in someone recovering from serious knee injuries (his second one) being able to jump and being able to withstand contact. Who knows what went into it- I don’t attend practices- maybe the hope all along was to get to the point where he could give a few minutes a game. Maybe you could say in hindsight they should have tried sooner with the hope that Smith could have contributed more in March. I do think Rowe cares about his guys and long term and maybe Smith with more recovery will have a chance to play somewhere professionally that he didn’t want to risk for the yound man.

It’s a shame that couldn’t contribute on the floor- I believe he did in the classroom and in the locker room and if you view it as a 13th scholarship I don’t have as much an issue with it as some do but win some of the other injuries and attrition it’s a spot where they could have used an able bodied guy the last 2 years.
