AH YES! The Piss Wall........... A Delaware football story:
Back in 1994, when I only attended a couple of home games a year. A spur of the moment Saturday morning whim had me calling the Delaware ticket office to see if they still had tickets available for the game that day against JMU. Living in Arlington VA at the time, Delaware's stadium was less than 2 hours away and a game was doable, if we left quickly. The ticket office confirmed that they would hold 2 tickets for me. My then 12 year old son (now an '04 JMU alum) and I hurried to the game. We arrived at the will-call window about 20 minutes prior to game time. I was surprised that our seats were on the 50 yard line about 8 rows behind our bench. When we got to the seats, I discovered we were smack dab in the middle of Blue Hen season ticket holders. Our two purpled shirted bods were greeted by the those being asked to move to allow us to get to the seats by shouts of: How the hell did YOU get these seats!!?? I told them that their friendly ticket office provided them!, (apparently they were turned in by one of those Blue Hen faithful), mumbles and complaints reduced to a begrudging acceptance as we made our way to the seats.
The game started and JMU was putting it to them. After each big play or score for JMU my son would leap up and cheer and I would pull him by his shirttail back down into his seat. I told him not to push it, telling him: Blue Hen fans kill kids! After that he would rise with more of a stoop and a watchful eye. Midway thru the first half, he said he had to go to the Men's room. I worried about him as I told him where it was and watched him as he left the stands. I prayed that no one would bother him, and thought that I should have gone with him. As I worried I noticed him returning quickly and in a loud whisper he said: Dad! Dad! will you come with me?
Now I thought: OH NO! some sex perv, used to having sex with chickens is hanging out in the men's room! So I went with him and found an empty Men's Room and my son looking at me asking: Where do you pee? Being an old guy I had seen bathrooms like this in dive bars in Albany! I told him to go against the "Piss Wall"
PS JMU went on to win 30-10. Our band was there too. The thing I vividly remember is how those Blue Hen folks screamed: Tubby! You stink! Tubby! Retire already! Tubby this is your last season! He went on to coach until the early 2000's and now the field is named after him, which reminds me of Albany................ But Hell I'm not going there........!
When you remove something that iconic, bad karma is coming your way.
I'm calling it right now...

I have 3 young sons sharing one bathroom so the wall right next to the their toilet is basically a piss wall. Their aim is so bad I'm now thinking maybe I'll just remove the toilet and leave the drain...
There was 2 things that made UDs stadium good:
-The sight lines. Don't think they build them that steep nowadays- not ADA compliant. With all the renovation being done, I'm sure a ton of coin is being spent upgrading to make ADA compliant.
-The piss wall. Probably not health code compliant. Definitely not something you's want to use wearing flips flops or sandals, unless you don't mind urine droplets (other than your own) on your feet..
They’re bailing the sinking ship. It’s not uncommon for top players to leave a program when the writing is on the wall that this program is going to stink for the foreseeable future.
It couldn’t happen to a better bunch of spatters.
I'd rather it didn't happen to Richmond. As long as we are in FCS, I like to be surrounded by other FCS teams w/ giant killer (FBS) reps like Richmond and Villanova. It makes the rivalry better.
