Atl- 3 @ SD, 3 @ Mil, 4 Was
Nats- 3 @ Phi, 2 @ Bal, 4 @ Atl
Phi- 3 Was, 4 LAD, 3 @ Pit
Nats with a real shot to make a move here. Looks like avoid seeing Keuchel with the Braves. you could easily see it where the Nats get within like 1.5 games of the Braves after these 10 days. Then it's game on from there. Nats rotation is perfect for these 2 series- vs Phillies its Strasburg, Corbin, and Scherzer, and vs Braves, it's those 3 plus Sanchez. It's now or never for the Nats IMO.
You think they're gonna gain 4.5 games in 10 days? That would be a pretty epic amount of movement.
Nats go 4-1 in these next 5 while Braves go 2-4. Then Nats take 3 of 4 from Atlanta. Nats 7-2 Braves 3-7.
Like I said the Nats pitching is set up perfectly for these 9 games.
How is the Braves pitching set up?
Well for one- they don't get the 2 easy Oriole games. Keuchel goes vs Padres/Brewers and no Nats. Nats get to see Braves 4th/5th starters... Nats have pitching edge IMO in quite possibly all 4 games in Atlanta- for sure in 3 of the 4 games....
Strasburg vs Teheran
Corbin vs Soroka
Scherzer vs Fried
Sanchez vs Wilson
Soroka is going to have a ton of pressure on him in that 2nd game IMO.
You heard it here first, folks--Braves are done for this season. Keuchel is a joke--terrible pitcher, can only go seven innings p[er game--absolutely godawful; Josh Donaldson is a joke- can't hit the ball; Acuna, Jr. is a chump--look how poorly he did in the HR derby and in the A-S game--first game back against Padres, he crushes a 455 footer, but Padres stink since they are not the Dodgers, so it doesn't count; Freeman is a mere shadow of a player and should be embarrassed to play in the majors; Riley is a lie- can't hit the ball at all, and provides no run support to the Braves' pathetic pitchers; Soroka's starts mean absolutely nothing- he clearly has zero idea of what he's doing out there and it shows; Dansby Swanson is worse than Shelby Miller, who was released yet again and signed by brewers to a minor league pact to try to raise the dead- Dansby should just quit baseball and go sell insurance of something; Ozzie Albeis is the worst 2nd baseman ever to play the game- not nearly as promising as Marcus Giles was; Nick Markakis has already retired while occupying space in right field for nothing; and don;t get started on the Braves' bullpen--worst in the majors by far, and that Braves' farm system is so barren, with no help on the way, even Baltimore is better. yeah, braves should hope to get to 60 wins by the end of the season. Nats are best team in baseball: best bullpen, best position players, best hitters, best starters who all go 9 innings per game and never give up runs, and the Nats have by far the best farm system and Manager in baseball- the Dodgers should also just give up now and forfeit.
Okay, all joking aside, Nats should be able to beat Orioles here, and Phillies are struggling mightily right now, so Nats should be able to make hay. The Nats have played the Braves very tough in limited action, so they are certainly no pushovers--I even predicted Nats to win the division before season started, so if they do, it really is no big surprise. the Braves are coming on early, even now. This really isn't their year, so anything they manage is a bonus. The Braves have a solid manager, not flashy, and a farm system brimming with talent, albeit not quite ready for prime time. Despite their rough starting pitching, the braves hitting has managed to help overcome, and the Braves are doing one thing pretty well, so far--they are just winning, baby. As to that big a jump, Braves did something similar to Phillies, and even now, I fear the Nats more than the Phillies at this point. braves are nowhere near as good as Dodgers, and if they get to postseason might not win a game (if WC) or a series. Nats have the momentum of never having won a playoff series, and their window is narrowing something mightily. The weak NL East these past few years made them look stronger than they actually were--their postseasons revealed that. As good as their starters are--and they are good--they are getting old. Braves problems are that their younger pitchers still need to build up, and are not quite ready yet, but sometimes youth can surprise.
Either way, both teams are good, but Braves have the lead, which will likely shrink as we go along. Can they hold on? I don't know. If this were 2020, I'd say yes. This season: we'll see. Still is funny to read stever's posts on the all-world Nats this year. Carry on (Hey, Brookes, are the Dodgers scared of the Nats?).
