So I got bored today and decided to use my newfound excel and R skills from my MS Finance degree to figure out why people are so down on ODU.. (Saw someone on twitter saying we should be in FCS).

So I took all the numbers from each team in G5 from the past 5 seasons (since we joined fully)...

Here's by the numbers: *Disclaimer, this was just boredom and nothing more than numbers, so interpret how you will*

ODU Win percentage: 49.18%
ODU Bowl Eligible Seasons: 2

AAC Teams with better Win %: 7-12
AAC Average Win %: 50.44%
AAC Standard Deviation: 15.86%

MAC Teams with better Win %: 4-12
MAC Average Win %: 46.5%
MAC` Standard Deviation: 15.15%

MWC Teams with better Win %: 5-12
MWC Average Win %: 49.15%
MWC Standard Deviation: 15.02%

Sun Belt Teams with better Win %: 4-10
Sun Belt Average Win %: 46.30%
Sun Belt Standard Deviation: 15.98%

CUSA Teams with better Win %: 6-12
CUSA Average Win %: 49.08%
CUSA Standard Deviation: 13.26%

So few things: We are middle of the pack within G5 football, but also were the exact Mean of wins % as CUSA as a whole. Our Standard Deviation is smaller than any other conference, which means we are by far the most competitive conference year in and year out throughout the whole conference.

I know we've had a rough patch, but at least we're not in the bottom quartile here. P.S. I think were gonna have a great season. Go Monarchs, and Go Mens BBALL!! CUSA Regular Season Champs.

I'm continually amazed at how it seems so many are so down.
In comparison to our peers - we are so far ahead of so many.

G5 programs around the country would LOVE to have our fan support, facilities and atmosphere. Can it and should it be even better - absolutely. But we have a solid programs in every sense.

Wish I could make it:/ Unfortunately I am in Colorado. I am hoping ODU is in the SLC 1st/2nd rounds because I will be going! LOL
