I know we lose a lot, especially in Jeremiah Martin

But when you look at what we've already assembled for next year, I think we should be less worried than we are, plus we know we'll add 1-2-3 more

James Wiseman 7'0" #1 0.9996
D J Jefferies 6'7" #47 0.9820
Lance Thomas 6'10" #120. 0.9269
Malcolm Dandridge 6'8".#138 0.9315
Ryan Boyce 6'5" #230 0.8857
David Wingett 6'7" #330 0.8700
Jayden Hardaway 6'5" #494 0.7783
Alex Lomax
Antwan jones
Tyler Harris
Isiah Maurice
Victor Enoh

vs what we lose

Jeremiah Martin 6'3". #300 0.8162
Kevin Davenport 6'8" #155 JC 4*
Mike Parks Jr. 6'9" #308 JC3*
Raynere Thornton 6'6" #307 JC3*
Kareem Brewton 6'2" #204 JC 3*
The worry is that college bball is a guard/wing game for the most part and we lose an elite conference POY guard in Martin without having anyone close coming in.

Closest one is Jefferies and he played as more of a PF down low for almost his entire high school career. We would need to hope for a huge jump from Jones if we don't get a scoring guard in the class.
I think most say we will be upgraded in the frontcourt...

But at this level you need guards or your bigs will struggle.

And posting high school ratings for seniors in college is weird. I would say Martin is giving more production than you can expect from any 5* guard next year.

We will add at least 2 more. Probably 3

Players will step up. Martin averaged 2.7 ppg as a freshman.

Absolutely!!
And they have a coach that will push them to get the most out of them. Not like prior years.
Not underestimating them but to win it all we need another player to replace Martin and probably one more experienced big for balance, rebounding and fouls.

Martin is better right now scoring the ball than any freshman guard we've ever had..so it will likely have to be grad transfer (Lagerald Vick type) veteran scorer that replaces him or we are going to struggle some, especially early next season. (Though we may still out talent some folks)

Add Watford to the mix and I think we have a chance to make a run at the title. Jmo
No 1 guard is going to replace Martin. The entire team and production will be different next year, just like simply inserting Martin into the 2008 team would completely change his game and scoring output.

More than likely, the difference in how other teams guard us next year will spread the production out. If you watch how teams play us, everyone guards us from the outside in. What's been so amazing about Martin is how he is scoring within the flow of the offense while being the focal point of the defense. More than likely, Wiseman will constantly be double teamed or surrounded in the post which will make perimeter scoring or more precisely scoring from the wing will be important. As soon as the ball is fed into the post, most teams will double down forcing ball movement in the half court. The biggest difference will be how fast Wiseman gets into post position and established will allow us to even play faster and create mismatches quicker than we can right now.

I have no idea how good we will be, but I would imagine production will look completely different because it's a completely different team. I'm more interested to see what the changes in the system will be. We're adding more dynamic offensive players, which is a given, and defenses will adjust to react to us accordingly. We have a very difficult time getting points in the paint from our bigs and are typically posting our guards or letting Kyvon begin his move from the perimeter. It will just look so different it's hard to imagine how putting this year's players in that system will look.

Of course we will miss Jeremiah, he's incredible. The biggest thing Martin does now for us is produce points at a very efficient rate when the offense breaks down or the other team makes a run. That will still be the question, who's the go to in that situation.
Need more outside shooting. That's it. I'm not convinced that a freshman 3 star like Baugh is going to make a difference. All the video I've seen of him is mostly driving.

I'm hopeful Harris, Lomax, and Jones will improve at least somewhat. Wingett, Boyce, and Jeffries hopefully will contribute.

If we have a post rotation of Wiseman, Dandridge, and Watford, there will be a lot of 3 point shot opportunities.

The only fallacy with that is we are "losing" a #300 Martin.

We are losing a two time 1st team all conference player and top 10 scorer in Tigers history.
I look forward to a team that's able to play more ABOVE the rim from now on...MORE physicality 03-cloud9...There will be more attempts at challenging the opponents shots from different positions....It's EXTREMELY frustrating 03-banghead to see a team score easy buckets at the rim without hesitation, with no fear of the shot being challenged ..... 05-nono NOT next year tho baby! That will be emphasized and create tons of run-out opportunities for high flying/above the rim action....even from the two and three positions as Jones as well as DJ are inspired by blocking shots! 04-bow

P.S. EVEN if WE ONLY added Jalen Green to our incoming class...This squad would be AMAZINGLY DYNAMIC and fully capable of a trip to "The TOURNEY"

Gr8 days lie ahead TIGERNATION COGS PREPARE 2 B H8TED

This is a fair point. I like Baugh a lot and I think he will be really good by the end of his college career, but I’m not sure he gives us exactly what we need next year (although we need a guy that can finish at the rim and defend).

It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out. People seem to think Murrell is a guy we want to stripe up. To this point Penny has seemed to want to sign most of the best local prospects. Obviously it’s a delicate balancing act.

You are forgetting Lance Thomas who will get plenty of minutes. And Maurice also. He will be much improved IMO.

With Enoh, Maurice, Thomas, Wiseman and Dandridge, I think we need a guard more than anything. And I still think we get Watford.
I wouldnt be surprised if Enoh transfers.
Good point. A lot of minutes to divide. All the more reason to save a scholly unless it's for a guy who is good enough to start.

I thought he was a 4 star? Isn’t he rated higher than Lomax and Harris?
I think Enoh leaves as well. Wingett , no disrespect intended , simply has shown me nothing leading me to think he can contribute at this level. I know he was hurt this year but I just thought he was athletically overmatched when he played. I don't understand all the transfers and grades things lol...could those 2 transfer and not hurt us AND free up schollies?

Per 247, Baugh is rated slightly lower than Harris.
