I was excited to see we have nine games on Saturday. However, only five home games and of those, three are on Saturday and two are on weekday nights.
At least the road trips are good. Wish the final game could be Black Friday like @CMU 2 years ago.

Yes, once again we are gifted with only 5 home games, which translates to 3 games for those of us who can't or refuse to attend the frigid November weeknight games. This in the face of teams like Toledo, which consistently has 6 or 7 home games. Toledo is simply a better-run athletic department in a better-run state. NIU is forced to seek and play big payday games to supplement their meager budget. I understand this. Our schedule is set up for the treasury, not the fan. However, many fans feel slighted playing the second fiddle.

This is one of the main reasons (not the only one) why fans have stopped coming to Huskie Stadium. Many feel slighted by the meager schedule and do not feel that it is economically feasible to buy season tickets to attend so few games. If they want to attend a game, they buy a single game ticket. But, because they don't have season tickets, they don't feel "forced" to attend another game. For the weeknight freezer games, it is much more convenient and comfortable to sit in the warm comfort of your home and watch it on TV (or turn it off depending on the play on the field). Over the past couple years, I have talked to fans in the HAF tent who told me they were dropping their season tickets because they were upset with the schedule.

We have two choices here: accept the situation for what it is, or move on to something else - like eagerly anticipating the upcoming men's basketball season.
There should be some give-aways to promote the home games, but instead of giving free thunder sticks and t-shirts, give free gloves, scarves and/or ski hats.

Excellent suggestion. Many years ago I saw a Huskie fan with an NIU Huskies scarf and asked where they had purchased it, was told it was done by the soccer team during the Willy Roy days. It had the Huskie logo on each end and the bold NIU Huskies in between so it could be held up ala what they do at English Premier League games. Despite asking around, was never able to get one and then I remember seeing how it became an automatic for Loyola fans during their men's basketball run through the NCAA; felt like those maroon and gold winter scarves were everywhere.

That would be cool.

I think we should do chants like the do at Euro soccer matches.

A guy my brother works with went with us to a Bears game a few years ago. He asked us what chants we do. We were like huh? He go like cheers what songs you sing? We did Bear Down and then he explained, we figured it out.

Always wondered why that never caught on here outside of soccer. Guess they have some raunchy ones over there in English Premier.

I wear my NIU scarf all winter. I think I get sick less too.
