I created a new thread as this is about more than wrestling. Other than the Buckeyes and Penn State, I don’t see another school winning a national championship in the forseable future. Other programs are relegated to nothing more than dark horse status when this happens. Iowa has the legacy of Dan Gable and the Brands to recruit. Oklahoma State has Coach John Smith and his gold medals. But even these 2 legendary programs will take a back seat to this. How do you recruit against endless cash and resources? A smoothie station?!?! Even the Empire’s Death Star didn’t have a freakin smoothie station.

I’m afraid we are headed the way of Ancient Rome when a school actually thinks it needs a smoothie station to attract a wrestling recruit. Just think about that and let it sink in. A tough high school wrestler is influenced by a smoothie station. Sometimes I think the kids might be smarter than the adults these days. That could be our only hope.
I like to think that the 195 pound State Placer who starts both ways on the football team and earned all district recognition for his efforts would care not about smoothies.
