WMU football social media team has been all over it today.

Offensive highlight of the day:

Jayden Reed wins a go route. This kid is special. Speed kills, and he's got great hands as well.

Defensive highlight of the day:

Dee Eskridge, in his new position at corner, goes up for a big pick.
Thanks for the videos. That's a promising start for Eskridge. Bird is truly special. Looking forward to a leap in confidence and ability from him this year.

A couple of other guys working on potential position changes:

Luke Sanders playing TE
Tanner Mathias playing OL

I wonder if we're going to see a lot more two-TE sets next season.
I like the Sanders at TE move. He's 6'4, fast and has added some weight. Again, we are loaded at WR.

I do too... also gives us more firepower for our multiple tight end sets...
It's crazy to think that, by my count, we currently have 8 TEs and 9 WRs on the roster. That's not counting Eskridge. With the incoming freshmen, it will be 9 TEs, 11 WRs. That's a strange ratio.

Sounds like some position changing, if their good athletes, should be possible.

Seven QBs and 15 LBs. But, you have to put 105 guys somewhere. Lots of those guys can play special teams. I don't think we ever had 105 guys during the Fleck years.

I just want to see Alstott play some RB for us!

Sign of modern day offenses. Air raid! Some of those guys will shift positions. Athletic players can play other positions. Already have seen that at WMU.
I must have missed something here, but what ever happened in Spring practice or scrimmage? We have been away from snowy Michigan for several weeks, and I've seen no reports since Feb. 20. Did bad weather stop all activities there?

They took a week for Spring Break, now they are back it. Follow their social media, they usually post an offensive and defensive play of the day.

Thanks. Are practices open to the public?

Found the info - practice open to the public March 23 at 10:30, in the Seelye Center or at Waldo depending on the weather. Pray for 60 degrees and sunshine.

Well, like praying Chad Pennington's gay away -- this doesn't seem to work either. However, a high of 45 and plenty of sun. So not bad! Take what the defense gives ya. :)
They're having an open practice, but no spring game?

Same as last year. Practice. No Spring game.
I wasn't able to make it to practice today,
Who looked good ?
Who was the 5th olinemen taking first team reps?

Our Wide Receivers are STACKED. Bussell and Reed, we have the best WR's in the MAC!!
Just some random stuff.

Wassink has taken some steps forward. His mechanics are perfected. Throws last spring often had a little wobble on the ball, now they are a perfect spiral and there is that perfect touch on the ball that makes it so easy to catch.

Eleby has so much talent. His fastball is the best throw for him right now, very accurate. Timing patterns and deep balls not so much, he tends to overthrow. So some work to do by receivers. One they have to be prepared for a throw that comes in fast and flat in the under routes. On long routes they can’t go into a glide and look around for the ball, they need to keep running full speed and trust the ball will be there. He has a strong arm.

Number 1 Riddle? Was working without a red jersey, although he did take a couple reps at QB. Is he a receiver now? I want to see a quick pass to him on the edge and the trick throw downfield.

We have both a right and left footed place kickers. I was thinking about the holders, two of them as well? They called out “field goal number 1” and “field goal number 2”. Is their a tactical advantage when on the left versus the right hash, to having a choice of kickers?

Everywhere I looked there was a lot of hand signals going on. I suspect the guys are learning some kind of sign language. Very cool. Enhanced communication.
