Two reports here.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/chicago-is-mo...tudy-finds

First, Matt Finn former Lyons Township 2G back in the day of Jay Hornacek Jeff's younger brother's playing days reports Chicago murder rate down. Still more than NYC and LA combined.

The written article touts that Chicago is the most corrupt major city in the US and Illinois the 3rd most corrupt state in the US.

For the last several major election cycles I have hammered this point home. No one including Obama has escaped fitting the bill.

Long time Chicago Alderman Ed Burke is under indictment for shaking businesses down in his precinct. He has been in charge of the City's purse for almost 40 years and his wife Anne is an Illinois Supreme Court Justice.

Easily the most powerful and corrupt individual in the state is State Rep Michael Madigan. He is the head of the Democratic Party period! You can have any other title you want him to hand you but he has you be the short hairs 24/7. His daughter Amy, had been the 2-3 term State Attorney General in charge of prosecuting any big wig.

So what is Ed's day job you ask? He owns a law firm that specializes in property tax contestment. What? Yeah, as leader of the State legislature and the Dem party he makes sure his day job pays in full day after day after day. How you ask? Raising property taxes through his acolytes on a local level.

"Let me get this. In his public sector job he and his minions raise property taxes and then on the flipside in his private sector his law firm contests those tax levys and he makes $millions in getting them reduced. Correct?" Ding Ding can I have graft for $1,000 Alex? Ding Ding Ding you get the Dailey (Mayor) Double!!!!

All this would be laughable if it was not true.

Same state that had then Senator Obama throwing his support to Head of Cook County (Chicago) incumbent John Stroger. All this to try and engender support for his run for the oval office. Stroger couldn't comment because he was in a coma. Before Stroger was in his coma Obama backed a "reform" candidate that mirrored his reform ideology, Forest Claypool. Claypool who is white was running against the "Machine" backed Stroger in a primary. But then Obama was persuaded to back Stroger. Of course only after he was in a coma.

Recently, Claypool was indicted for mismanagement heading up the Chicago Pulbic Schools. He as appointed by Rahm Emmanuel. I never heard of him before. 03-lmfao

Again, this would all be laughable if it wasn't true.

I'm sure we could all dig up other corrupt pols on the other side of the aisle but nothing can touch Chicago and Illinois.

If I didn't know better, current Governor JB Pritzker will likely want to pick up the Bullet Train mantle from Gavin Newsome of California. It is a perfect model for success of getting the unions (all) on board and filling the coffers of buddies and minions for the tax payer to cough up.

Yes, this is the same JB Pritzker who is heard on a FBI wiretap talking to then Governor Blagovich who latter was convicted of various felonies and is now doing time. JB was open to landing a sweet no work high paid job for his sister Penny through Blago, So on tape, Pritzker is exposed as conspiring to rip off the state playing political footsie with Blago. Penny later took an ambassadorship instead under the Obama administration.

Really??? You don't say.

This is how things work under Illinois Democrats. Tried, true and corrupt all the way through. If it wasnt for the Bullet train fiasco in CA Illinois would have passed CA for the worst economy. I guess competition is a good thing after all.
Our daughters lived in Chicago for several years (one went to school there, other moved there to be close to Big Sister).

I am so glad they moved away (especially with our Grandson) because the murder rate - including innocent victims - is horrendous.

And city seems powerless to do anything about it.
One person had eight years with the ultimate power of the Feds to atleast start a clean up his home town of Chicago,
Did NOTHING

More homicides each year in Chicago than LA & New York combined.
Chicago has been corrupt for a long, long time. But there is no question it's as bad today as it ever has been, mainly because the Democrat Party has a lock on power.
Yes, then-President Obama could have issued a National Emergency Executive Order.

That would have fixed everything.
Let Bill Barr start with cleaning up the DOJ .

He has a lot to do, a LOT to do.
I thought Chicago had the strictest gun control laws in the country? No?
This thread seems fair and balanced.

Any law is only effective if enforced.

These remarks from a Greensboro, NC City Council meeting back-up your post.

Agree or disagree, you'll love this guy. His remarks certainly are relevant to what is going on in Chicago.

Yes, most of the Republican crooks got jobs (temporarily) in Nixon's White House.

And now Trump's.

No, they don't. They tried to have that, but it got shot down by the SCOTUS. And most of the guns they confiscate are not from Illinois, they're from Indiana and Wisconsin. They probably don't do strict enough sentencing for gun crime - not sure why.

Murders were higher back in the 60s, 70s and 80s. The trend had been down until about 2016 when they jumped up. They lowered again in 2017 and a bit more in 2018. Still too high, but it's been worse. Almost all of it is in certain areas - not much in the Loop area.

It's a thread the likes of which no one has ever seen. It's the best thread in the history of the universe.
