Maybe this should be its own thread, but this was in the news today, further advancing potential tech innovation at the U of M. It kind of builds on both the library-turned-incubator as well as Indigo Ag's recent announcement.

U of M's new research program could draw tech companies, jobs to area

The University of Memphis is launching new research into agriculture and food science that could help draw tech companies and jobs to the city.

This interdisciplinary program is set to be a vital component in leveraging expertise in core biological, chemical, and environmental science research with additional applied knowledge in big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and engineering.
