Player of the game. That's how you play against your rival. Loved him stepping up. knocking down shots. grabbing rebounds. diving on the floor. and getting into the crowd and bg cheerleaders.

felt like a breakout game of sorts. if he can play like this and have a great finish to his senior year we are much more compettitve against buffalo, ball state and kent.
He was feeling it. He was not going to lose. Loved Marreon slapping hands with imaginary teammates after his free throw with 6 ticks left.
Hope he didn’t take littleson out for the year.
CD fired up and knocking em down, plucked the falcons.

Who woulda thunk the Rockets are winning with perimeter defense. Navi's shutdown Defense!
Darrington really stepped up in a big time game!!!

Go Rockets!

No one in Toledo will care about what Darrington did at Tennessee. 20 years from now guys will be buying him drinks for what he did v BGSU. This is why top local guys need to consider playing for UT.

I don't think he had the opportunity to stay local.
Lol. My neighbor is a BGSU alum and was at the game. When it was all over, he texted me and said "Good game-32 for UT is an a-hole". Lol I think every fan feels that way when those type of players are on the other team and you lose.
He definitely has gained the respect and confidence of his teammates. He is a GREAT example of what it means to come back, assume the role of a support player, take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy it. He deserves a lot of credit. Really glad to see TK manage the minutes and hot hands throughout the game. Really never let BG get settled as the confident home team. We were confident the whole game. Really good win for the ROCKETS!
"I don't think he had the opportunity to stay local."

After HS he went to Vincennes JC where he was an NJCAA All American. Coming out of Vincennes he had multiple Div 1 offers including Toledo and he chose Tennessee.

this team needs more a--holes. you could say the lack of them is our main weakness.

Agree, same thing for football.
We can do without A-holes, but I wouldn't say he was. His little banjo thing isn't done in anyone's face. The wolfing back at the crowd was done with a smile and Willie Jackson did the smart thing and moved him on. He did do a good job of selling the BG program though. Maybe they'll keep a crowd now after his positive comments on the environment.

After HS ...

Yes, I know this history, at least what is published. It is as I said. He did not have the opportunity to stay local. He had little if any DI opportunity. He was District Player of the year in a strong district. All state first team. Went JC. Had "ankle" problems limiting his court time at Tenn. is what the papers said and that he transfered back to be closer and help out family.

Their main weakness is turn-overs off passes. A-holes are just a-holes. It's just a distraction when your teammates have to tell you to keep your head, not once but several times. Not needed.

His passing was horrendous, five bad alone in first half, two to turn-over and two others that stopped the motion. Only a couple in second half. It's not something he had to do much at either Scott or I would imagine Vincenne's so, there's a weakness that if improved with experience would have tremendous return.

Strengths I feel he brings that the team desperately needed is ability to draw defenders into the lane, finish at the basket (the block aside), and his man defense, finally gives us some protection beyond the arc. At the half-court, a bit less effective, like a few others, like most anyone really, he tends to lose track. Having another reliable free throw shooter and outside option isn't going to hurt.

Speaking of a-holes, which he really wasn't, I thought it amusing that the one who did almost step the wrong direction was Sanford. Didn't like Fyre's....spunkiness I guess.

Did Darrington disappear on the final handshake? He exited stage right and I didn't see him come back through the line?

Huger pulled him aside and told him he’s a hell of a player so he went through the line.

Huger most likely first, probably why Darrington didn't finish with the rest going through, while the camera was still on. I think the kid has a lot rooting for him. It's been a long road but fortunately one that hasn't taken any of his youth, like some have to do.

I still hem and haw over it would be better to have him next year, after we lose a LOT of offense and experience or to go all in this year to try an win the MACC and get into the tournament. It's done now, can't say I argue with the results and hopefully the gamble plays well.
M Jackson had a lot of horrible passes. I don’t remember any from Darrington.

First Half:
cross court (not the one from MJ)
Behind Edu coming to the basket.
Littleson at top of arc
Sanford at top of arc
forget the fifth
Second Half:

They replayed it, it was Darrington's, not keeping his composure but this time, in traffic. I believe the article even said that after the game, he apologized profusely.
