i was going with a traditional lineup more or less. unless you were as well. it's hard to keep jarron off the first team, but born ready is the cerebral type of player that's going to have a long nba career. a poor poor man's danny fortson

I've always been a Vaughn fan because those early Mick years in the Big East were brutal and he was the main scoring threat. Would've loved to have seen him on a more talented team depth-wise. He also finished fourth in career points for UC.

agreed. i can not imagine how much worse the records for those years would've been without Deonte.
what were people's criticisms of deonte again?
Terrible defensive effort. Rath was scathing in his criticism.

yes. my inclusion of leon is an homage to he who scathes
There were a lot bigger problems than Vaughn's effort on defense in those early Big East days IMO.
Vaughn was so unfairly maligned by too many on here. He was literally the only plus offensive player for 2 years and as a result focused on that end, sometimes hurting his defense. He developed a couple bad habits on defense, but his contributions to those teams and the program overall are still enormous. He kept UC in so many games and got us through some dark times. While I don't think he's on Cronin's first team, his contributions to the program are beyond reproach.

It was pretty remarkable that despite playing in the old BE we never dropped to a single digit win team. Incredible efforts by all those players to push as hard as they did despite knowingly being overmatched and the coaching staff for their professionalism to coach those guys every bit as hard as our good teams to really set the culture for the Cronin era. The fact that a bunch of misfits beat an elite 8 X team in Mick's first year will probably always be his biggest upset.

Vaughn would be on my 2nd team for sure.

My 1st team:
Cashmere Wright
Jarron Cumberland
Sean Kilpatrick
Yancy Gates
Lance Stephenson

2nd Team:
Deonte Vaughn
Gary Clark
Jacob Evans
Mike Williams
Kyle Washington
I don't get people with Lance as first team. He's really talented and has had a nice NBA career, but at UC he was pretty mediocre. He had a super high usage rate, but wasn't very efficient. He shot 22% from 3 and had a kenpom offensive rating of 98.6 (below average if you' follow that stuff). Had he stayed 3 or 4 years I'm sure he becomes a first team type player, but I wouldn't have him on my first or second team for what he did at UC. Also that team was too talented not to make the tournament. Their fade largely coincided with his struggles in conference play

Agree. I'm not putting a player on a first team that played for one year unless that player is LeBron James-esque. No such player under Mick. Now, if we're making an All -Calipari Team of one hit wonders...

Deonta "No Love" Vaughn
Deonta "The Forgotten" Vaugh
Deonta "Fourth All-Time Scorer" Vaughn
Deonta "Some Fans Won't Even Put Me On Second All-Mick Team " Vaughn

Second team much deserved but If you ain’t winning stats don’t matter. Appreciate him giving us his all though!
My 1st team:
Cashmere Wright
Sean Kilpatrick
Jarron Cumberland
Jacob Evans
Gary Clark

Cumberland - Evans - Clark can guard any position on the floor. Wright because you need a true point guard with this many scorers.

2nd Team:
Deonte Vaughn
JaQuon Parker
Lance Stephenson
Kyle Washington
Justin Jackson

Vaugh and Stephenson as scoring threats, with Washington as scorer down low. JaQuon and Jackson are shutdown defenders/rebounders.
