This Thursday the Monarchs will travel on the road to play the North Texas Mean Green. On paper, this game seems like a trap game. ODU is playing great, winning six in a row. North Texas is riding a four game losing streak. And on Saturday, ODU will play the number one team in Con USA, Rice. It would be easy to write off this game. But rest assured with coach Nikki, she won’t do that
The Mean Green’s schedule so far has them with a 10-9 record, 3-4 in Con USA. They are 6-3 at home. But keep in mind that part of the team’s schedule has them playing three non-division one team.

Former University of Kansas transfer Terriell Bradley is the team MVP on offense and is a great defender. George stays inside while Bradley, Godohart, Owens, and Mitchell will launch them from anywhere. Like ODU, they are an aggressive team. They are a team known for playing defense as they rank 5th in the league. With just Con USA games, they rank 4th.

ODU leads Con USA in rebounding, thanks to two freshmen. Ajah Wayne who leads the team with 8.8 boards per game and Amari Young with 6.4. Together they have been a big part of ODU having the top rebounding team in the Conference. ODU averages 42.2 a game, but if you look at just conference games they are still number one averaging 39.8 per game.
It’s not easy to play at the Super Pit, but I think the ODU Road Warrior mentality will shine through. And they will need it since the next game will be against the top team in the league, Rice. They have the preseason player of the year and the tallest player in the league on there roster. It's going to be fun!
