It will be bitterly cold outside. Today is one of those 'Warm up the bus" days.

I think this game will be worth staying home and watching (what else are folks in the Midwest to do?) and listening. Mute the telecast and turn on WEMU.

CMU, as someone noted, is a very short team. One true center a lightly used guy whose PPG is probably half of his GPA.

I've been going over the CMU game notes. High scoring, lot of steals, lot of treys, etc.

Everyone shooting over 40% from the field. The starting five all average double digits per game. Leading scorers are Austin and Roundtree, a pair of guards.

We will, I assume, just try to beat up on the Chips inside with a ton of points in the paint.

This could be a fun city. I'd expect a lot of treys and dunks.

This is the website for CMU alerts. Looks like CMU will try to conduct school and activities today but could consider shutting down late or tomorrow as wind childs exceed 20 below.

Wind chills could hit a -35 tomorrow morning...

CMU hasn't beat us since 2015, so they're probably due. Although the matchup favors us nicely, I'm just not confident enough to expect that winning streak to continue. We need our guards to step up.
I understand that snow isn't an issue up in Mt. P. Very cold, but snow not as much as Detroit.

Based on that I don't see a reason not to play the game. CMU will need to decide whether to delay opening Wednesday. To me there is a BIG difference between classes where students, staff and faculty need to walk to vs. an athletic event where attendees can drive and walk from the parking lot.

For example, CMU could cancel classes tonight but still hold the game. Classes are mandatory attendance events; athletics are optional.

When I was at EMU I lived say 1/2 mile from Bowen. Nasty walk when wind chills were below zero.
Here are the CONFERENCE ONLY stats. Crazy as it seems, EMU is shooting really well from behind the arc (yep, Minnie had a couple excellent shooting games).

IF I'm reading the stats correctly, we are the BEST offensive rebounding team in the conference and next to last in DEFENSIVE rebounding.

No surprise. We are big up front and get a lot of offensive rebounds, BUT teams which play the zone do not do well with DEFENSIVE rebounds as they cover a ZONE instead of going butt to butt with the offensive player.

CMU canceling class after 6:00 p.m. but remain open tonight. Closed tomorrow. NO indication game will be cancelled.

"Due to extreme weather conditions and wind chill warnings, Central Michigan University classes that begin after 6 p.m. today are canceled. CMU’s main campus and Global Campus offices in Michigan will be closed Wednesday.

Campus remains open and operations will continue tonight with the exception of late-starting classes. This includes the Student Activity Center, Park Library and campus events. Classes that start before 6 p.m. may follow their normal schedule today."
Toure is demoloshing CMU in the paint, but giving up rebounds on defense is already leading to second-chance points for CMU.

CMU's treys and Toure working in the paint.

So far the game is according to script.
At times sloppy, but an entertaining game...

Lot of treys....
BIG 3-point and-one for McAdoo. Some of our threes are falling, and it's making up for our defensive mistakes.... so far....
Crowd in Mt. P isn't great but decent considering how cold it is. Wind chills are in the negative teens.
CMU is getting a lot of weird offensive rebounds. Crazy shots = crazy rebounds.
CMU is 6 - 14 from behind the arc now.
Dear Friends,
Game tied at 39 at half. Let's hope Eastern gets on a run to start the second half.
Fun half. CMU is hitting their 3’s, but we will see if that lasts. I like our ball movement, and the fact that we are pounding it inside. Keep going to Thompson and Toure.
I think Minnie needs to show up in the 2nd half for a W. He's only 3-8 from the floor.

I agree with Sam. Keeping pounding it inside. Montgomery already has 2 fouls.
Right on cue, Thompson finished an and-one.
Weakest flagrant foul I’ve ever seen. Horrendous.

They'll always call a flagrant on Thompson given the chance. Always.
CMU’s strategy of using their PG in the post against a 2-3 zone is...interesting.
