Everything went Drexel's way last night in the CAA. EVERYTHING. Northeastern beat UNCW. Hofstra beat Charleston. Elon beat William & Mary at William & Mary and most importantly, Towson came back from an 18 point deficit, as Ryan Allen missed two free throws with Towson up 64-63 and 1.1 seconds remaining in the game.

The implications of all of this for Drexel are pretty significant if you ask me. With a record currently of 4-4, Drexel sits in sole possesion of 4th place in the conference as we hit the half way point of CAA play in Delaware next Saturday. A win against Delaware puts us in a tie with the Blue Hens. Granted, with Charleston playing Elon Thursday and William & Mary Saturday, it might be a three way tie but still, we'd be in a secured position in the top half of the league.

With a fan base looking for results and progression, I think this is a pretty good year especially considering we are playing the entire season without Walton, Lee who has been unreliable and Perry's recent injury woes.

A win Saturday would give us a winning record in CAA play for the first time since February 18, 2015. It would also put us at or over .500 this late in the year for the first time since 2013-14.

Yes, our defense is struggling, but the zones against JMU looked considerably better. The point is: this team is moving in the right direction.

So, with an important game, I think it is up to us at the loyal fanbase to follow the DAC Pack's lead and start promoting that game. We need gold shirts in the stands of the Bob on Saturday. Its a key game for this program and these guys deserve our support.
Totally agree. And I'd love to see the DAC Pack making road trips again. This would be a great place to start.

I guess over the next couple of games, we'll find out how good Drexel really is. Right now, I feel as though the 4-4 record is a bit of a mirage. 3 of those wins came at home against (likely) the 3 worst teams in the CAA. Also, Drexel trailed by double digits in ALL 8 GAMES thus far. Good teams don't do that. Drexel is just 2-20 in CAA road games in the Spiker era. That's just horrendous. If they want to be taken seriously as a mid-level contender in the CAA, they've got to start winning games on the road, especially against some of their weaker opponents.
we'll probably be down at delaware. i miss the old days with the road trips.

i feel a little better about where things are because i actually feel like we have some pieces. we're not going any where if we're relying on a 5'9" point guard and big man in tadas who can't seem to move. the other foreign spot up shooter we had wasn't taking us anywhere either. wynter looks more like a caa player. butler can actually move a little bit. doles is showing an ability to score. demir has good skills with the ball. all of them need to hit the weights.

in other words i feel like spiker is starting to build a division 1 roster. it won't be easy to recruit but he has to work out his pipeline.
Does the DAC Pack really not do any road trips any more? That was and is a great way to connect alumni with the students as well as getting the students engaged. I know "back in the day" there were generally 2 road trips: Delaware and usually one other close game (Towson, Loyola etc etc). Then of course the CAAT in Richmond. In the very least the trip at Delaware should always happen. Usually it was paired with an alumni event for a brief gathering beforehand.

Do alumni events like that still happen before games? I know for Delaware it was always at the Australian place that had pretty good food/spring rolls
I don’t believe there is anything Saturday. There’s something ahead of the game at UNCW. I believe a big donor lives down there.

The traveling group was a rare breed. Maybe an extinct one. The league is less travel friendly with Elon and Charleston replacing the VA schools. Those were doable day trips and certainly weekend trips. People hated them but man were they great places to watch games. I’ve thought about going down to GMU just to hear the Green Machine one more time.

???

They already played at UNCW this year.
Back in the 90's when the Drexel/Delaware rivalry was at its peak, Drexel bused hundreds of students down to the BOB. The endzone was completely filled with Drexel students. That section of the BOB is now covered up by a plastic tarp.
You’re right it’s before the home game. I don’t know if they had one down there then. We went at least once while I lived down there.
