Lil Penny was used on Nike commercials when Penny was playing in the NBA. Used to promote Penny's shoe as well as the Nike brand. I'm sure Hardaway had something to do with this. Excellent strategic move that could help bring back the Memphis basketball brand to a place it once was.... in my opinion

Can't hurt, used to love those commercials when I was a kid. Lets see if they do them right so they resonate with the younger generation.

Yeah, I think that will be interesting to see how it unfolds. I can't imagine they bring Chris Rock back, though. Too expensive now.
I don't think it's going to be a Nike campaign. But they may sign off on it and it will be much like the little perks you get from being a nike school. This could be a great marketing/recruiting/media strategy and really pay off in the bigger profile of the school.

If it's not going to be a Nike campaign, who is going to fund it? Not Memphis. Not Penny.
Not to mention, Penny has said NIKE told him they were bringing back 'Lil Penny.

I think they will use Chris Rock again. I bet they put him in a suit have him yelling at the players and the refs. Should be funny. As far as Penny being able to resonate with younger players, every recruit in the country plays 2K. The availability to play the game as Hardaway has more impact than people may think.IMO

If Lil Penny is not holding a phone then it won't resonate with them.

Good time memories. I can't remember if I was Penny or Jordan more often as a child playing against my neighbors and fellow Elementary-School students, lol.
I grew up in the 80s. Here in Memphis in the early 90s, we (children in Elementary School) would fight between the two who we would pretend to be in street-court matchups, lol. It was just Penny and Jordan while my generation was growing up.
