People from Texas 3 biggest traditional rivals (OU, A&M, Arkansas). At least the committee is no longer ignorant of the Southwest and Big 12.

So what you’re saying is that UT isn’t getting into the playoff anytime soon? 03-wink

Well Hatfield and Slocum are fair and Castiglione has a pretty good relationship with Texas. Whole lot better than having to get by Tom Osborne.

So you're saying these new committee members might put an extra second on the clock for the Horns, so to speak?

Well they wouldn't try to deduct a second that should have already been there and then complain about Texas being treated fairly for the rest of their life. With Osborne, Nebraska's 1-9 record vs. Texas in the Big 12 just stuck in his craw. That plus the fact that the other 11 members of the Big 12 didn't want to have illiterates on the football field. Osborne's great 95 team had more Prop 16s (or whatever the term was) than any other conference in the country. As I recall he had 23. Next team in the country had 8.

With Slocum, I'm reminded of flipping around the channels one Thanksgiving weekend and coming across the Aggie bonfire. The Aggie president was a 60s Aggie and all that entails. He says, "We're going to kick their asses and send them back to Austin in their little cars (ie the stereotype of Aggies in pickups and Longhorns being "tea-sippers"). And he just generally made himself look ridiculous. This is the president of the university. Slocum came up and was very calm and professional. Aggies hated Slocum. They fired him and have never had the same success since. He was a very good coach. He was just competing in a very tough Big 12 when OU and Texas were coming back and Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas St. were already there.

People weren't enthused about the wishbone, but Arkansas and Rice both fell off after Hatfield left.

Hatfield and Slocum are much underrated coaches.
One more change to the CFP selection committee for the 2019 season...
