Miami Hurricanes hire Dan Enos as offensive coordinator

http://www.espn.com/college-football/sto...oordinator
Saban says "thank you for taking him off my staff."
Supposedly Enos was in line to be Tide's new OC.
Some guys are just better assistants than head coaches. Enos looks to be a prime example of that.

CMU’s decision to hire him as head coach was the best thing that could have happened to WMU football. Fleck took advantage of it and we are still seeing the results.

Enos had complete disdain for the spread and RPO at CMU. He was a pro-set absolutist. I’m speculating, but maybe he and Saban had a falling out about the future of the Bama offense. Saban understands how to evolve and compromise. Not sure Enos does. Maybe he has matured and learned from his failure in Mount Pleasant. Miami-Florida obviously thinks so.

Bill Cubit fit that mold

I would say Bill was a better head coach the Enos. Is this a joke??????
I think Cubit is just what the program needed, at the time he was here.

Bill Cubit is a good man, but....

He lost five straight to CMU and...

He never even won the division, let alone a MAC Championship. The talent was there, particularly in 2006-2008.

To Cubit's credit, he did have a winning record against Enos (of course, most MAC coaches did).

That's not the discussion. A poster pointed out that Enos was a better HC then Cubit. I find that a slap in the face. Bill couldn't win the big game, however he had quality wins here and did a better overall job as a head coach then Enos was @ CMU

That is not saying pEnos was a better HC than Cubit. It's saying Cubit fits the mold of being a better OC than a HC. And I agree.

I'd pick Cubit over pEnos as a HC. Not that Cubit has any bragging rights over him, but yeah, he beats pEnos.
I haven't followed Enos closely since leaving CMU, but wouldn't have expected him to eventually navigate his way through positions at Alabama and eventually an OC in the NFL. Not a bad course after a "dud" HC tenure at a MAC program. He must have some magic in him that he didn't show in Mt. P as HC.

EDIT: never mind, not NFL. Read the title too fast and had just read a couple articles about the Dolphins adding coaches (i.e. Caldwell) so muddied the two. Even so, a solid trajectory after a ho-hum tenure at CMU.
He's not in NFL. He's at University of Miami (thus 'Hurricanes' not 'Dolphins' in thread title).
Clarification of above: Enos is OC at Univ of Miami & not with NFL Miami Dolphins

Edit. Hoople types faster than me

Interesting that this sudden departure stuff appears to be a trend with the guy. Odd, someone here waxes on about what a stand up dude he is at every opportunity.

Josh Gattis, former WR coach here doing the bill cubit regime, left Alabama and bolted for UM job. Surprised with the amount of turnover on Sabans staff.

He's not a "stand up dude."

BOTH Bill Cubit and PJ Fleck out-coached him on the field and out-classed him off it.

Surprising if you go to another place at the same coaching position (or less), at an equal or lesser school.

NOT Surprising if you go to another place at a better coaching position, or close to equal position in the NFL. Championship caliber teams is where you'd ideally want to go to get someone to move "up" with your team.

That said, pEnos leaving under-the-radar would indicate there's more to it than that, notably when Alabama loses.

But, Saban knew he was following leads of other places calling him -- and chewed him out to stay. Other people knew about it -- maybe pEnos told the AD, and the AD was too scared to tell him like the other staff members were? Most likely, pEnos just told a group of people he was going and to "pass on the news to the Saban."
