They are absolutely wrong. There is no path for a G5 member that does not depend on utter chaos in at least two P5 conferences.

All 130 FBS members have theoretical access, but you are high if you believe that access is remotely equal. Many would argue that not even all five power conferences have equal access.

There is no "control your own destiny" in the G5.
Alabama is getting their butts handed t them right now by Clemson. And I'm enjoying every second of it!!! Put up 100!!!
Show the elephant how overrated it is!!!!
Loving the annihilation of Alabama. Go tigers!
Is this Clemson or the 80's 49ers we're watching? Freaking Joe Montana and Jerry Rice as freshmen.
Clemson's defense is just on fire!!!!!
It’s beautiful watching Alabama get completely destroyed. Love it

Same here. I love the fact that Clemson ran Alabama out of the stadium, and it wasn't even close. 04-cheers

Alright. Where do we sign up to play these 4 major conference teams that are willing to play G5 teams?

Maybe we should join the SEC. Where's the application form?

Therein lies the problem. While several people disagree with me when I say the P5 will eventually break from us, and whether it's even advantageous for them to do so, I do believe that the stack is decked against the G5 in terms of getting a fair shake at the college playoffs under the current system.

If all G5's played 4 games against P5's, to theoretically give them all a fair shake, it would in turn require nearly all P5's to schedule 4 games against G5's. That's just not gonna happen. Nearly half of the P5 schools schedule only 2 or less games against sub-P5 opponents, and only three P5's (Arkansas, Virginia Tech, South Carolina) actually scheduled 4 games this season against sub-P5 opponents. Some P5 conferences and schools generally frown upon scheduling too many games against G5's, and the SEC is the only conference where every team schedules at least 3, with two scheduling 4 (Razorbacks and Gamecocks).

And because P5's are largely unwilling to play us in our home stadiums, and have the money to buy us out to host the games in their own stadiums, those games are almost always home games for them. Usually the only time they agree to play us in our stadiums is when it's a 2-for-1 deal and/or they see an opportunity to possibly use it as a recruiting tool if that area has sufficient talent.
So.... play all roadies against (ex.) Auburn, Iowa, Fl St., and Tenn... go 4-0. Run the conference... no way any team would still get it. It would be but.. but.. but. There’s 0% chance.
You can't schedule 4 top-level P5 schools. They won't give a G5 that chance. The only way for a G5 to schedule 4 P5 schools is to be INVITED to join a P5 conference. Theoretically having a path to the national championship does not equal an actual path in reality.

This is like saying you could become president as a 3rd party candidate. On the surface level, you technically have a chance but if you aren't part of the money/power structure so no way in hell is it happening.
Does anyone really think any G5 program could build a team that could compete with what we saw last night? No. It was possible back in the Boise State/TCU era, but that gap continues to grow larger and larger. The financial constraints are way to large. Their head coaches salaries are larger than our entire football operating budget. G5 should split off and have their own championship. The current paradigm helps only one G5 school... the one that gets a New Years Day game against a quality P5 opponent. Every other school would benefit more competing for a national championship.

Let that sink in for a bit. Clemson's defense allowed one score (a FG) after the 1st quarter in both games combined.
