With that said, it took the greatest comeback in odu history not to start 0-2 in conference after playing both games at home.
This was an absolute must win at home, and we did, but everyone thinking this is the start of an ncaa tourney run is most likely in for a rude awakening.
We almost started 0-2 at home against our conference rivals (who aren’t actually all that great).

Honest question - when you recently referred to all of the teams we recently beat - VCU , Syracuse and WKU as not “great” teams - what teams comparably are you referring to ? Most mid majors aren’t scheduling top 25 teams on a nightly basis especially since the CUSA is not P5 conference. These are all fairly good teams potentially top between top 50-75 teams .
They are good wins.
They are not great wins. Beating Georgetown at Georgetown was a great win. Beating VCU twice when they were a final 4 team and an at large was a great win.
Beating notre dame was a great win. Beating final 4 gmu was a great win.
Vcu and Wku most likely won’t even be ncaa tourney teams this year.
Syracuse is squarely on the bubble and considering how tough the acc is, they probably won’t be.

Interestingly enough, beating FecesU twice that year and the Mason win in 2006 we’re both BEFORE the Final Four runs happened. NO ONE in the whole world thought they were great wins till AFTER the fact.
You know, I was really hoping we could go 2-0 this week, but I was definitely not expecting it. Even though Marshall was performing under expectations and WKU is Jekyll/Hyde, they are still two of the toughest teams we will face in conference and going 2-0 against them was never very likely. I would have believed for sure we would be the eventual 1 seed if we did go 2-0. But really, I was expecting 1-1. The difference is I was expecting Marshall to be the victory, so when we lost Thursday I got extra sour assuming we'd go 0-2.
Now that we sit 1-1 as I originally thought we would have, I think we are still in a very good spot. We obviously have some figuring out to do, but our freshmen and Kithkart came up big Saturday night and that is AWESOME news for us.
Next week we need to take care of business as usual in Florida and go 2-0. WKU and Marshall play each other Sat night, so that will be a game to pay attention to. UNT who currently has the lead in standings gets their easiest road trip of the year @UTEP and @UTSA, so I don't see them dropping at all.

That and defensive collapse in second half. They drove against us nearly every possession and either scored or drew a foul.
Rewatch the game. When defense gets aggressive and the shots start falling. We look good and a ton of fun to watch. I did enjoy the broadcast, the announcers had done a little research and it showed.

I don't know if anyone remembers the post game interview with BJ on the court, the reporter (I can't remember her name) asked him what Coach Jones said in the locker room at halftime and BJ responded with something along he lines of Coach Jones didn't say anything, the players talked it out themselves. While this isn't necessarily uncommon, I love that. They knew what they had to do to win and pulled it out at the end.
This team feels special. I just wish we didn't lose to Marshall. But there's a whole lot of conference play left and hopefully we can make it to the big dance again this year
Also: Maybe if Dustin painted the ODU logo on his belly staff would lighten up
