Since Barry Church was released by The Jags (which surprised me), how about hiring him to be our Defensive Backs Coach?

Being a great player is no guarantee you will be a great coach, or even a good one.

Besides, going straight from a multi-miliion dollar salary to a $50K coaching gig is not for most. Also, reportedly his wife "helped" picked Jacksonville as the place they wanted to live. Toledo would be quite the change from that.

All very valid points. The NFL is a joke the way they get big Free Agent signings then release players at their leisure. I realize it's big business, but, I don't get it. So The Jags guaranteed Church $12,000,000 just NOT play for them? I wish him well.

Don’t follow any of the current players on twitter...I’ve seen plenty of those comments over the years.

I always found great people, plenty of stuff to do, and the food pretty good in Toledo.
There was never a day of the week that I couldn't go out and have a fun time.

Me too Boca. Great place to live in and around.

Don’t follow any of the current players on twitter...I’ve seen plenty of those comments over the years.

I follow all the Rocket NFL players on Twitter...Church never mentions Toledo. He didn't even acknowledge Toledo when we won the MAC last year. Barry had one of the best individual careers ever by a Rocket, a 4-time All-MAC selection...I wonder why he doesn't show his alma mater any love? Would love to have him come back for a game or two.

The Jags are not paying him $12m NOT to play, they don't owe him a penny as the guaranteed monies were already paid in out first 2 years (2017-2018) of his 4 year deal. He has total $24m in career earnings so should be well set for life, always a chance a team signs him in off season for 2019 at low cost as backup next s[/i]eason but at this point not getting any $$$ from any team.

Barry never played on a winning team at UT. Rockets went 18-30 over Barry's four years. UT was really hurt by the NCAA investigation. Not a great time to really think about. I've noticed over the years too that players that were on winning/championship teams seem to have greater pride and involvement with UT after their playing days are done.
