I drive by it all the time kinda cool watching the construction going to look good.
I have a question for Coastal fans .
The woods next to 544 across from the stadium next to soccer stadium.
They are clearing those woods and doing site work.
What is going there ? my guess would be parking good tailgating spot.
I like how you see directly into the stadium driving up the hill towards Conway now.

The intersection of Hwy 544/University Blvd. is being relocated a bit further east to accommodate the stadium expansion (specifically, so there will be enough room for the boardwalk on that end of the stadium). We have a stadium expansion update thread over on CoastalFans, so come join us over there if you like! http://www.coastalfans.com/forum/index.p...58558.2370

Yeah, the stadium looks pretty close to the road. Someone could stand on the sidewalk and have a pretty good view of a game.

Unfortunately we can't do much about that on the "away" side - 544 runs directly behind those stands, and directly across 544 is probably the largest cemetery in the county. So that side of the stadium is pretty much locked in once the upper deck is added.

There were initially plans to move the soccer field (seen here on Google Maps) to an off-campus location, but I'm not sure if we're going to do that or not.
This will look good once the construction in complete

The sun sets directly behind the stands that are currently under construction. I can't tell you how excited I am to have those stands done for those 6pm kickoffs, LoL.

From that view, your back is to the baseball field, right?

I was speaking about how close University is to the South endzone, but sounds like a portion of that road will be diverted to the South to create some more room there.

Correct
They basically removed all the trees between the soccer stadium and road.
Seems like more than enough to move the road .
Looks like it would be an ideal place to add parking tailgating spot.
FBS stadium rankings-
Paulson Stadium at # 16? Seriously?

I believe it will be, but nothing can happen until Coastal builds a new soccer stadium on the other side of 501. Just weird they committed to clearing trees before a shovel was in the dirt for the soccer stadium.

Stadium atmosphere mostly but other factors like ticket price, tradition, neighborhood played a part. Has nothing to do with best looking or biggest stadium.

IIRC, the writer for that website makes a point to visit most every FBS stadium in a several-year cycle. I believe when he was at Paulson Stadium, it was during the 2014 App State game because that's what the pictures are from. So we got lucky he just happened to be at one of the best atmospheres I've seen in Paulson.

It doesn't hurt that traditions and the crowd play a factor in the ranking, and GS has some of the quirkiest traditions in all of CFB.

Quirky? Self deprecate much? I think I know the answer. How do know this pic is from 2014? My original take was from the Ark state game this year based on the military leading the team. That flyover was epic.

Quirky isn’t a deprecating word. We have unique traditions and that’s a fact. No other FBS team rides to games on school busses or has a mini football field inside the stadium for kids to play on or draws power from a magic creek. Quirky is an excellent way to describe that.

The original article from Stadium Journey about Paulson used pictures from the App game. It seems like the website has since been updated from a more recent game, so that’s my mistake.

I'd be curious to know what the App fans think who attended this years game in Paulson. If you attended and left not pleased about the rivalry despite the loss you ain't right in the head. Absolutely electric atmosphere that I would argue would rival the best in the country. The crowed was completely in every second of the game singing in unison, constant defining chants, lighters lite up the stadium during song.

I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I hadn't been flipped off and told FU like 3 dozen times. It is certainly anything but a "friendly" rivalry, and I could never take my kids to that game. We decided to find a random seat in the upper deck just to avoid all the confrontation. Aside from that, the students' passion was awesome.

Sitting in any student section in any stadium in the country with a Yosef hat on waiving a confederate flag painted black and yalla screaming profanities will bring the FU's. Well unless you're in Boone.

Seriously I can't see it. No need for the Eagle realist to come out from Realville. I've never seen this behavior directed at anyone in my many years of going to Paulson. I admit I've never sat in the student section so I wouldn't know what goes on there. I'm glad you found seats that were less threatening to the students. Think about reserving your seats there next time so that you can enjoy the best game day experience within your conference for the past 30 years. Dude if you felt threatened I can think of several thousand people that would have made arrangements for you and likely better seating than you reserved.
