If a coach is suspended or has games vacated then, imo, those games should not be included in their coaching record.

what part of Penny not being the coach of record is beyond your ability to comprehend

neither the school or the NCAA recognize him as the coach of record for those three games.

SUSPENDED COACH

If a head coach is suspended for a game or more by the school or conference, the coach is still eligible to receive the wins or losses during the absence, but some institutions have chosen to give the record to the interim coach

If a head coach is suspended by the Committee on Infractions and/or Independent
Accountability Resolution Process, the coach will not receive credit for the wins or losses
; those decisions will go toward the interim coach’s record

Other unique circumstances will be evaluated on a case-by-case
basis (Updated 5/1/2014)

That’s the coach K rule. They came up with that in 1995. K whined about it because he was out and Pete Gaudet coached them that year. When in reality he just had a bad team and he claimed his back was hurting too much to coach

He didn't want that losing season blemish on his record. And it made for a better story when he came back next year with a better team and turned things around.

The 3 games this year were played and they count. So if Penny doesn't get them, then Stansbury has to.
So Slick Rick is at the top of our list at 3-0 = 1.000

The criteria has been the same from day one and hasn't changed regardless.

Some of you will always find a reason to b*tch.

If you don't like the criteria then don't click on the link.

With the future schedule you will be getting what you obsessed over very soon and when it happens i will post it.

What is the criteria that excludes the games from Penny's record, and also excludes Rick from being on the list?

Don't start these lists and threads if you can't back them up consistently.
Over 20 or so years ago coach k missed a season and dook had a losing record. Those losses did not count against his record.

Oh, I remember it well. I was working with an obnoxious Dook fan (oxymoron, I know).

Point being, the interim coach Gaudet does have that on his record of Dook bb history. So shouldn't Stansbury be at the top of Nascar's list of "last 10 coaches" with a 3-0 record?
I would exclude Stansbury from the list because he was only an interim fill-in. I would exclude the games - win or lose - from Penny's record because he was suspended.

Question: What if a head coach has a health issue like say a heart attack and has to miss 2-3 weeks? I would say those wins and losses are not on his record.

As long as Cal's 38-2 season is excluded I think the list is apples to apples? Did Kirk's team have any seasons vacated? I know the '85 FF was so at least all those tournament games need to come off his record...

Lots of individual stats categories have a minimum number of games, attempts, etc required in order to be considered.

When T Carter stepped, can't remember the game, when Seth got shaken up, his 1st pass was an 80 yard TD.

Should he be listed as the top QB nationally in yards per attempt or completion percentage?

You know, I think the time is coming when we should drop all the sub .700 coaches from the list. I’ll let you know when…

Let's just forget that .606 guy all together.
very weak and tired today and not likely to be awake at game time.

this is such a mismatch against UTSA, i am going to post this well before game starts without fear of having to change it.
