Not to be negative, but all I read is him dismissing the idea of relocation and not really saying he’ll never do it. Reminds me of Delta. And I’m sorry, but with the Grizz being in the bottom 5 in attendance, and even in our best years not cracking the top 15, we should worry about Seattle. The lease end is getting nearer and nearer. Memphis folk never stepped up and bought the majority share, and now, I believe we wait for the inevitable. New Orleans is in the same boat. We can only hope they go to Seattle. But then you have Vegas. And even Nashville. St. Louis. Kansas City. All with professional nba ready arenas.

The Grizzlies have one of the smallest arena's in the NBA you have to take that into account

But we only fill 86% of it. For a team that doesn’t even break even, for any business man, year after year, that will be a problem.
We've been through this before. The Grizz aren't going anywhere for at least a decade. There are layers of protections in the contract Pera signed when he bought the team in 2012. The most confining being the local owners can buy the team back from Pera at the original purchase price if Pera tried to sell to an outside group. Pitt Hyde or any of the local owners could go to Goldman Sachs and put together a buying group to do this in about 10 minutes.

Local TV contract is better now. Owners don't buy pro teams to make year to year operating profits. Value of the team has skyrocketed since Pera bought it. Pera is very pissed, as he should be, that he had to buy out Strauss and Kaplan, but he was cash poor at the time the deal closed and needed them.

Imo, if you want to look at teams that might move in a few years, look at New Orleans if AD leaves this summer. Saints town. Benson bought the team from the NBA, but died last year.
