Apparently UCF turned down a 2 for 1 with Florida and it reminded me of a similar situation we had when RC was still AD. Does anyone remember the school he declined to play? I'm not sure if it was a 2 for 1 or just a straight up buy game.
I remember we had the opportunity for a one off at Notre Dame. I'm not sure why it didn't happen.
I don't blame them and am glad they turned it down.
I would have jumped all over it. Having the opportunity to beat Florida 3 times is worth it. We are the G5, it is unfair, and it sucks, but it is a fact.
see if they'll give us the same deal.

I agree. It was a UF stunt, and UCF shouldn't fall for it.

If Notre Dame or Texas or Bama wanted it, maybe. But this was just the in state school big brothering the up and coming school. UCF wise to ignore it.

They could have offered a Home and Home and a game @ Raymond James stadium...Which would have been at least 75% Florida fans

if they accept that offer, then they will never get another home and home with a P5 school. if they accept that offer, it puts every school in our conference in a weakened bargaining position. forget florida and try and schedule oklahoma, or oklahoma state... schools that might like a trip to Orlando for recruiting purposes.

You would never get your home game. Arkansas, Tennessee the SEC seems to have a history of canceling, buying out or just never scheduling the return game. Play 2 at Florida and then they would cancel.

Florida would have never accepted it, and they threw out the 2/1 because they knew UCF could never accept it.

UCF wanted a neutral site game which was in the best financial interest of their program. [1] There's more in the article. UCF isn't afraid of anybody, but it's there's AD job to maximize revenue.

I don't blame them one bit.

and b knows idiocy, as he displays every time he posts.
UCF is one 7-5 season away from being right back with us, Houston, Boise, etc. They should have taken the offer and run.

Exactly, it was a marketing stunt.

And Florida sold 6,000 less season tickets this year than last, with a new coach. They had empty seats at every game.

I'm guessing we all understand that UCF will one day lose a football game again. Doesn't mean they should accept the Florida offer/insult.
This was a no-win situation for UCF.

Had they taken it, the narrative would have been "see, UCF isn't in a power league because they can't get H and H, they can only get 2-for-1's".

By them turning it down, its "them afraid to play the big schools."

Either way it doesn't work out well for UCF, and seems a petty move on Florida's part.

Thank you, I couldn't remember for the life of me who the school was. I knew it was a major program.

That's the narrative anyway, they and we aren't in a power league. I think they should have taken it, it's their only shot to break through.
