Former John Carroll coach, coming from Chattanooga.

Looks like they had to go the bargain route. Probably made Chattanooga fans happy! 9-13 in two seasons? I noticed they left that out of the press release. I guess adding “Took over a Chattanooga program that had three conference championships and a second place finish in four years, averaging 9 wins per season in that stretch, and managed to win 3 games and 6 games in two seasons as a head coach” doesn’t make for very good PR copy.

Didn't our defensive coach Kaufman work with him at UTC?
For the shake of this question one of 2 options.
Would you rather your school have a modern stadium ,indoor facility and because of the debt have to lower sites in Head Coaching search.
or
Older facilities and the ability to hire a head coach that you truly want
Looks like it is going to cost them $1mil for this replacement.

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch as a wise person once said. Finance isn’t an Akron U strength but they have picked football coaches at least as well (no pun intended) as we have. We will see in two years or so who picked the better coach.
They are going to pay Arth $500,000. a year which is $100,000 more than Lewis makes.
Rumor has it Bowden is still around in some Tressel type created position where he's basically a glorified fund raiser. I wonder how much he's getting paid for that.
One day the MAC presidents will realize that football is a drain on all of athletics and probably academics and drop the league down a level. That time will be within the next ten years.
Who is the homeless looking guy next to the Zips mascot in the press conference picture that was taken for this coaching introduction? LOL
I read in some paper that Arth has a "will to win". I suppose that sets him apart? From whom?
Interesting strategy—hire a coach whose goal is winning. I wonder why nobody thought of this before? This could revolutionize college football!

Wow!! Such a novel concept
Arth knew and worked with several current KSU assistants through the years. Wonder if he’d be able to entice any of them to join him over in he projects.
They are paying Arth more then Lewis thinking he will be able to pay assistant more then KSU does.
Akron did not sign one early recruit. That new coach will have a lot of catching up to do.
DL coach jumps to Akron
Several comments on board about the financial mess that Akron is in. With that being the case how are they able to pay their football coaching staff more than Kent State?
What are their staff’s salaries compared to ours?

I believe that the last numbers that I saw for athletic department funding overall, Akron's funding was several million dollars more than ours. Very disappointing.
