$175 Million 45,000 seat stadium to replace Legion field. They will not own but will lease from the city. But with no professional games I assume it will be all but theirs in name. Amazing for a team that was dead 4 years ago. UAB gets new stadium

Good school. Birmingham is a nice city as well. UAB has always been a sleeping giant…. what an unbelievable comeback. 04-cheers
UAB will be the primary tenant and will have the naming rights (or it's in their contract to be able to sell the naming rights). I'm pretty excited. 45k is the perfect size for UAB and for the other events we have here (SWAC Championship game, Magic City Classic, Bham Bowl). I think 45k will be too big but people are hopeful that our new USL team will eventually move over there. The AAF team would also move there if they're able to survive that long.
Happy for UAB 04-cheers
That's pretty neat. They put a good team on the field this season.

I agree with Bull's comment above about Birmingham... I think it gets a bad rap, but I was there (for the first time ever) for the Deontay Wilder fight last year, and I really enjoyed my time there. Avondale was a cool area, and we went brewery hopping. Would love to go back!
Good news for them. Glad to see them alive and well.
My mom grew up in Mountain Brook. Last time I was there was for my grandmother's funeral, and the traffic in Birmingham was incredibly bad.
I am very happy for them. Way to stick it to Bear Jr!
Definitely happy to hear this. I've been rooting for UAB and have a soft spot in my heart for them. They definitely have the potential for some serious growth, and finally getting a new stadium of appropriate size is wonderful. If the AAC were to expand in the future, I'd certinly hope that they would be on the short-list.
They need to re-brand as Birmingham; good for them.
Congrats to UAB. 04-cheers

UCF re-branding occurred along with the opening of (then) Brighthouse Stadium. Possible UAB could follow that same path to become a more marketable program. Althought changing the name of the school itself may be a little more complicated than us dropping "Golden" and a logo/mascot refresh. Not sure.
kick out USF, add UAB
UAB has a great head coach. Good for them.

No, just form a new league with unequal distribution.

What if USF provides UAB with a pirate ship?
looks like a nice beefed up version of UCF's stadium. Great to see the UAB program back on its feet and then some. Congrats UAB fans
They will also likely see a basketball arena revamp too.

UAB is looking to ensure its future through competivitiveness.
