Pitt OC wasn't going to live up to standard set by Matt Canada. Never should've let him go.

We offered over a million to stay. LSU almost doubled our offer. I think the figure I saw was $1.8 million. It was a bidding war we weren't going to win.

...and yet, where is he now? Would Pitt consider hiring him again?

The fans would. Not sure if Narduzzi would rehire him knowing he will be gone again in a year or two. He is on the cusp of becoming a head coach. I myself would bring him in with a co-offensive coordinator of his choice to train to run the show when he leaves.

That would be a great plan, IMHO.

So, what happened to Canada? Was he at LSU one year and got fired? I can't imagine he lead this years offense and got fired.

He was at Maryland this year - even interim head coach for awhile. He's still there, but was passed over... so may be willing to come back to Pitt.
MORE O'Leary gang surfacing in Atlanta.

Source: Georgia Tech is hiring Marco Coleman as defensive ends coach. Coleman, a former defensive lineman for the Yellow Jackets and first-round draft pick, spent this past season as assistant defensive line coach with the Oakland Raiders. He played 14 years in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl in 2000.

Guess the GTAA is about to get some more of that sweet Bronx Bomber money.

In semi-related news, Kentucky's OC turned down UGA on being their OC ... and that included a $1.1m/yr salary. He turned them down to stay in Kentucky. This offseason is going pretty well so far.
NC State hires WVU Associate Head Coach Tony Gibson co-defensive coordinator.

Quote:Named one of the nation’s “hottest recruiters” by Street & Smith in 2018, Gibson has coached 25 all-conference players, five All-Americans and 21 players who have gone on to the professional ranks – including five during his current stint at WVU. This past season he coached Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year David Long.
Pitt hired former UMass HC Mark Whipple as their new Offensive coordinator. It looks like a good hire to me.

"In very short order Georgia Tech is going to have the ACC’s second best recruiting infrastructure"

This puts a lot of pressure on the other other ACC schools - especially Miami, FSU and Virginia Tech - to step up recruiting. Attention Justin Fuente: "coaching them up", while necessary, is no longer sufficient. VT needs more Jimmies and Joes to run those X's and O's...
Pitt added Chris Beatty most recently of Maryland as the WR coach. Good recruiter and has developed several good WRs at previous stops. DJ Moore at Maryland, and Jared Abbrederis at Wisconsin. It looks like Narduzzi understood the lack of a competent offense was holding this team back and addressed it.
