Interesting that Baylor and Vandy both finish at .500 and get a 6.3 mil payout. Of course Memphis will get only 1.6

why is that surprising? aac only has like 6 bowl tie ins. armed forces, bham, cherry bowl, cure bowl, frisco bowl, gasparilla bowl, & military bowl. the tigers have the 2nd highest pay out available outside of the military bowl. texas school in the texas bowl = higher ticket sales. it makes sense. if memphis wants a bigger payout, get out of the aac.
And payouts are tied to tickets sold, so ot a true $ amount.

Thx for the information .... Question I have; I was under the impression that we would get only 1/2 of the payout from the bowl game directly and that the other half goes into a "conference pool" so to speak, then added with all of the other conference bowl games is shared equally among all of the conference schools ... That ensures all schools get a piece of Bowl revenue, with the participating teams getting the half payouts ...

I may be wrong, but wanted to throw that out there ...

Yep. Say Vandy has a 12,000 ticket allotment at $100 per ticket. (I don't know the actual numbers.) But in that example, that $1.2M in ticket revenue that has to be met. And 6-6 Vandy ain't selling 12,000 tickets in Houston on a Thursday in late December.

Does Vandy even have 12K fans?
The Camellia Bowl payout is a joke. They should be required to step it up or fold.
The Camellia Bowl is $250k, that would not even cover expenses for the team. If you figure they take an active roster of 60 players/10 staff (and that's being very conservative) and that comes to be about $3,500 per person.

The thing that struck me most was how big the Citrus Bowl payout was. Over $8million? That's impressive for a bowl game that I didn't think had all that much history aside from being the home away from home for UT.
Despite Spurrier being a prick about it for some reason (and the fact that after making those infamous comments, Florida would go to the Citrus bowl two out of the next three seasons), the Citrus is pretty much the most premier non-NY6 bowl. It and the Holiday, I think.
The Liberty Bowl's payout is less than the Music City Bowl payout now?

Not good. It's amazing how much in stature the Liberty Bowl has fallen. So many bowls, yes, but so many have 'passed up' the Liberty Bowl. I mean, the Peach Bowl was in a ton of trouble in the late 80s, but an upgraded stadium really helps. The Cotton Bowl never got refurbished and Jerra-World saved the Cotton Bowl.

I hate to say it but as long as the Liberty Bowl is played in the....Liberty Bowl, I am not sure how many other bowl games will surpass it. I mean, the Pinstripe Bowl has a bigger payout than the Liberty Bowl.

The LB game this year seems like a pretty good game. But I agree that they need to increase their payout somehow. It is difficult for a bowl game that isn't played in a warm weather location or a dome. That would fall on the sponsor I suppose.

01-wingedeagle I guess that I am a little dense but is the payout shown for each bowl per team or is it split evenly between the two teams ?
I'm thinking it is split but I would like to know for sure.
