I remember when the Bahamas Bowl was on Christmas Eve at Noon. Good time slot, it was among the most watched pre-Christmas 'minor' bowls.
Not sure when they changed it, but Friday, December 21, midday, doesn't seem as attractive to maximize viewership.

Payouts are a little hard to verify. I've seen everything from the $225,000 I posted above to near $500,000 for the Bahama Bowl.

these bowl payouts will barely cover travel expenses for some of these teams. MAC can make more money playing P5 school during the season on the road. I know it's not about making money, but the experience for the players. Just think how watered done the bowls are now.
That Bahamas Bowl is a pile of crap. We are going to lose money just to say we went to a Bowl Game. We are a better team than WMU, yet, they get to play in a better Bowl Game. I think MOB jumped at the first opportunity and ran with it. We should've waited. Those Bowl Committees should have given us more respect because we've earned it. Minnesota gets to play in Detroit in The Quick Lanes Bowl and they stink. We could've played them since the MAC was an alternative Conference. We would've had a whole lot better opportunity to see our beloved Rockets play.

Much rather not go to Boise, especially since we get BYU next fall. I'm ok with the Bahamas this year.

Rocket Offense is not built for cold weather. UT is not a ground and pound Offense like NIU, Ohio, or EMU. Last time UT really had that capability was 2015.

What makes a better Bowl? Is playing in Detroit or Boise make it a better bowl? Pretty sure team is excited to be going to Bahamas before Christmas.
Detroit will bring more fans. Detroit and Boise will bring in more $$$. That stadium sucks. That field sucks and the Bahamas Bowl is a Consolation Prize.

So look to accept a Bowl that makes the school the most money?
I assure you that the players are really excited about going to the Bahamas for a bowl game and much rather go there than to Boise or Detroit, etc.......regardless of opponent. It's not always about money, who you are playing, etc.
And at a $250,000-500,000 payout, one would sure hope Toledo could play this game and not take a financial loss, at least break even.

I won't be there, but I think it's cool that the Rockets get to play in the Bahamas. Nice locale for the team & a bowl we hadn't been to. Just hope the guys are more focused this year.
