It's a bit of a disappointment for LSU probably but its a good spot for UCF.
Disappointment for LSU?

This is their first major bowl in a long time. LSU will be excited to be back in a good place.
UCF is the one disappointed. They lose, it's because they were not motivated to play a 3 loss team. UCF feels they belong in the playoffs. Honestly, they have nothing to gain by playing. Win and it's a lowly 3 loss LSU team, but the usual suspects will even count the Fiesta loss and say it was a 4 loss LSU team. Lose, and everyone calls UCF a fraud and ignores their loss of MM or all the work the did over the past 2 years.
You knew the Gators would duck the Knights since Florida's AD was on the CFP committee. He didn't want any part of UCF, neither did Florida.

I highly disagree. It's a "BCS" bowl against an upper SEC team. They aren't going to have an attitude like they're playing 5L Northwestern - lol.

If they lose, it's because they're not as good as the team -- plain and simple.

They have their backup QB playing, they have a lot to prove still. And it's a Big Bowl. Crying's not an excuse. They don't at all deserve to be in the Top 2 Bowls, that's loud & clear.

Perhaps my sarcasm didn't come off as strong as I would have liked. Just turning it around on LSU fan boys that are already trying to draw an excuse. If anybody has a reason to use it, it would be UCF instead of LSU. However, those excuses are rediculous to begin with cause this is a prestigious bowl.

Also, I think UCF would like to tie Boise with the amount of high profile bowl wins. UCF is playing for something long term. To separate themselves from all the G5, even those in their own conference. They want to have the best resume to get into p5 conference down the road.
I don’t think LSU is not worried about Central Florida. LSU knows what they did to Baylor and Auburn. They’ll be ready.

Unlike Baylor which was left out of the playoffs and Auburn which was close to the playoffs (using the excuses people have given), LSU is happy going to a NY6 Bowl. LSU wants to make a statement they’re back. Winning the Fiesta Bowl is one of those statements. That’s where I give LSU the edge although I’m rooting for UCF.

.
Congrats to UCF. Not what you wanted but still a great team. Second non-power school to make 3 major bowls (Fiesta 2x, Orange) - Boise St made Fiesta 3x. First to do it twice in a row. I’ll be cheering!

UCF tied for 22nd longest win streak. 10th post 1960. Interestingly, 3 of those top 10 are fairly recent.

Post 1960
1. Toledo 1969-1971 35
2. Miami FL 2000-2003 34
3. Texas 1968-1970 30
4. Miami FL 1990-1993 29
4. FSU 2012-2014 29
6. Oklahoma 1973-1975 28
6. Alabama 1978-1980 28
8. Nebraska 1994-1996 26
8. Alabama 2015-2016 26
10. UCF 2017-2018 25
10. SDSU 1965-1967 25
10. BYU 1983-1985 25

(longest of all time is Oklahoma 47 from 1953-1957, Toledo is 5th of all time behind Oklahoma and 3 pre WWI streaks)
If UCF wins it will be another national championship

That would be funny.
Wow, UCF got hosed.

A 12-0, top 8, conference champion team gets a three-loss LSU that was probably the 4th best team in the SEC.

Well done.

So if the Fiesta Bowl is a national championship game, does that mean LSU is the champ if they win? It must.

LSU doesn't care about the game, or at least their best players don't:

"LSU sophomore cornerback Greedy Williams announced Sunday that he will enter the 2019 NFL draft.

The All-American defensive back is ranked fifth overall on Mel Kiper's latest Big Board of NFL draft prospects and is the highest-ranked cornerback."

Also:

"Orgeron also had news on another LSU cornerback, as Kristian Fulton will miss the team's bowl game after having ankle surgery."

So LSU's two starting CBs will miss the game. And that's as of now.

I think we would need OLK to win the NIT tournie. So we are the 2 time undefeated national champs.

Well, they better care. I still think Louisiana State will beat Central Florida but do not overlook the Knights who have a history of winning big bowls.

A bit of a disappointment for UCF, also. With the talk of LSU draftees not playing and whether the team really wants to be there is not enough, the game is in Phoenix. I wish they would drop this bowl.
Both teams should be up for this game.

LSU knows damn well that UCF will claim a national title if they win. That 2017 "national title" banner at UCF is probably the best bulletin board material I've ever seen.
I've allowed this to sit with me over the weekend, and I think it is pretty clear if we win this game, the university will claim another national title. It's going to happen, and the fallout will be glorious!
