It's Detroit on Christmas. Nobody will be there. Few will be watching.

03-no 03-puke 03-pissed

EDIT: Apparently Minnesota. Yippe.
Georgia Tech got Screwed... SOS, and conf record does not matter..... At least I can go to the COFH basketball game!

Truth
@GTAthletics and @GeorgiaTechFB knows that they dropped the ball. Other teams and programs are tweeting out their bowl announcements and there is nothing but crickets from our administration. I don't blame Coach Paul Johnson for retiring from this crap.

Swofford and the ACC got tired of Paul calling them out for the crappy scheduling. This is payback pure and simple. Swofford a UNC guy right? The conference is a ******* joke.
I'm with Tariq Carpenter. His Twitter feed sums up my thoughts nicely.

Over/Under on GT fan attendance?

I'm setting it at 300

Who has the over?
I hope Paul Johnson is blatantly and overtly pissy over everything related to the bowl. Strong preference for him crapping on Belk and the ACC whenever possible.

03-lmfao weak game...we were playing 5-6 guys all season yet made the Sweet 16. UVA would loved to make a Sweet 16 last year before embarrassing themselves.

Who has the over?

Well I say 1500-2K travel from Atlanta to Detroit...

Georgia Tech has a fairly large Alumni Network in the following areas: Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis, Twin cities, Northeast Ohio, Cincinnati...So another 2K

Plus 1K overage for Coach Johnson's last game... so 5K

I bet Attendance is around 15K...However why the Quicklane likes this matchup is becuz Atlanta is rated as the #10 TV market in the nation and Detroit is #14 and Twin Cities is #15.... So I bet the Bowl Reps are thrilled with this game and that it is Coach Johnson's last game even more eyeballs may watch on TV!

The Wahoos would've loved to have made the sweet 32 last year...

Waitaminit... this changes the whole dynamic. I still agree that nobody likes the idea of playing a bowl game in Detroit, but if there really is a large contingent of GT alums in the area, could it be that those alumni WANT to see the Jackets play there, even if only occasionally? (IIRC, this is the first time for GT in Detroit).

Large is a relative term. GT exports grads all over b/c that's the nature of high end engineering jobs. But I think you'll find the GT side a total ghost town given that it is Boxing Day and Detroit and they got passed over for much sexier match ups closer to home. Logged into the GT ticket office and saw that tickets through the GTAA are $100. Tickets right now on the secondary market are $15. Add another strike against official GT ticket sales figures.
I don't think it's all that bad. You edged out the Potato Bowl.

Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson was given a platform to gripe about his team being passed over by three bowls that instead invited teams that the Yellow Jackets defeated this season.

Johnson, who has never been shy about criticizing when he has felt it warranted, did not air grievances over what will be his final game as Yellow Jackets coach, against Minnesota in the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit on December 26.

“It’s out of our control,” Johnson said on a teleconference Sunday night. “I’m happy that Detroit wanted us to play, and there are some positive about that game. It’s indoors, so it’s going to be warm (for the game). There’ll be some fun things. There’ll be a lot of gifts. A bowl game’s a bowl game.”

After the game was announced Sunday evening, several Tech players took to Twitter to express their aggravation that the team is going to the eighth bowl in the ACC selection order despite having a better conference record than all but three teams in the league.

Jackets feeling disrespected by bowl selection

“You need to worry about stuff you can control, and I have no control over that,” Johnson said. “I have no control over that. I’ve heard some really good things about the bowl game in Detroit, and we’ll make it fun for our players. It’ll be fun.”
