Quote:I do think the team has underperformed these past couple seasons, tho. Should've had an 8-5 season last year and this year we should already be 8-4.

I agree. I don't measure level of below, above, or at "mediocrity" based on record alone. Who you play & what happened in each game, where record will reflect but not necessarily be the answer (like scoreboard at end of a game), tells the real tale. I agree we should have been 8-4 (and not stomped by Ohio nor whipped so bad against Toledo + stronger performance against BGSU), due to that BSU game.

I just want a solid consistent team for a vast majority of years when there's not a coaching change/reboot. I'm not throwing my pizza boxes at the TV because we didn't make or win the MACC game. We aren't "there" yet, nor indicated that we were.

Now, if I was an NIU fan -- it'd be more like "win a bowl, dammit!"
Lester has a really good record if you count games not started by a true freshman QB.
Is Wassink back? Not sure how many years he has played, he’s been hurt every year he was starter?

Wassink has one more year....

Or...Wassink hasn't beat a team with a winning record. At least I don't think he has.

Wassink was QB in Bronco win over EMU who just played in a Bowl game.
He threw for one TD & ran for another
Everyone worried about WMU QB situation? What MAC team enters 2019 with the two best QBs suited up? I think it's WMU

If Jackson leaves Buffalo we have two of the top 4 qbs in the league returning.
I don't see anything with our up-and-cumming frosh QB that would spell out Wassink sitting out next year in his senior year.

If we had Wassink this year, we'd be 8-4, not 7-5. And not quite the blowouts VS Ohio & no-D Toledo.

What our new frosh QB presents isn't enough to buck Wassink in his final year.

Why would he leave Buffalo? Transfer or NFL?

Talk about both
Aside from the flukey win over a disinterested NIU, the last half of this season was some of the worst Bronco football ever witnessed. On par with Darnell’s final season and Fleck’s first season.

I can’t find any rationale in those betting on 9+ wins next season. Even with these “top MAC recruiting classes.”

This team has talent, if not 9 wins and a MAC championship. Lester should be fired. Sorry, but the expectations next year are super high. Quite frankly, we have to much talent not to win the MAC next year.

Very sad situation. Remember the extreme value of the marketing during the Cotton Bowl season? IT'S GONE.

Freshman BYU QB just pitched a perfect game against us. How does it feel?
I could see 9 wins next year if these losses were oh-so-close. But we look like FCS creampuffs out there. Giving up over 40 points six times this season.

We read a little too much in the win over a sleepwalking NIU. Firing Daoust did nothing.
My expectations probably hinge on whether they actually *look* for a defensive coordinator or whether they promote a guy based on one game against a bottom tier MAC offense and another half a hundred surrendered in a bowl game.
2019 - WMU plays rematch against Ohio/Miami for MAC title. Broncos should be MAC champs and will beat either MSU or Syracuse.
Some of your downer fans should join our board they would feel right at home.We won the MAC by the skin of our teeth with the worse offense ever to win it and people still complain.

I couldn't predict that, even only putting $5 on the line. I'm not a downer. Our 3rd season under Papa PJ turned into a 7-5 season and not winning the MAC West (but won bowl to go 8-5).

That said, WMU winning the MAC West next year, given the right circumstances, sure, I would not be shocked. Possibly surprised to a good degree, or maybe not so much. Depends.

But nothing that has unfolded has indicated that our D is going to be solid next year, and I can't count on our O being consistent and great. I think it's Very possible we'll take another step up and not a step down, as the last large chunk of the season has indicated (Wassink gone has aided that). But by how much we would step up remains to be seen. I can't bank on a great big step. And I'm sure KB wouldn't be expecting that out of Lester.

The good part is, is that nobody in the MAC has stood out to be non-beatable by us when we're having a nice day. I just at least hope we don't lose a game we're supposed to win (BSU,BGSU,GAState,CMU at home w/ new coach after bad season), and that we win a couple tough games that we surely could lose or by default have a line to lose (@Toledo/@NIU/@EMU/@Ohio) -- and not let Miami get revenge on us when they come to Kzoo.

EXPECTING much more after how things have unfolded would be a silly expectation.
Feels like we will start 0-2 again. If we sleepwalk through the first half of another 5-6 games again next year, we're screwed.

I think we'll be between 5-7 and 7-5, as usual. Playing at UT and NIU in the same season never bodes well.

We play UT and NIU every season. All in the West Division. We either play both at home or both on the road, alternating years. Had them both at home this year, so both on the road next.
