UNCG 40 -Kentucky 37 @ half!

Alonso has 19; Isaiah Miller an athletic match for the big boys.

Live on ESPN2
Keep in mind, Kentucky is still working out the kinks and are VERY young playing against a more experienced UNCG.

UNCG could win this game, but I don’t think it is a fair representation of how “good” any team is right now playing a much weaker than usual Kentucky team.

(Cheering for my Cats and super sick of the announcers fawning over Alonso.)
The refs are buying the Alonso flops - he drew 3 free throws on one 3 pointer by leaning sideways into a guy going past him. Definitely not part of a natural shooting motion.
Citadel 33 -Mercer 33 18:00 left in 2nd half

On EPSN+
Kentucky shuts down Alonso in second half and pulls away at the end 78-61. Alonso 19 in the first half, 3 in the second.

Citadel by 10 over Mercer - final is 79-69

I think Wes teaches them the art of flopping down there. Dickey was doing plenty of it too.
Final, in Chattanooga, Chattanooga 71 - 1-7 Tennessee Tech 58
Western Carolina giving Furman all they can handle at Furman, leading 62-60 with 4:19 left. No answer for Carlos Dotson down low.
Western Carolina 64- Furman 62; 1:01 left. It's on ESPN+
Overtime for Western and Furman, 67 all.
Double overtime, 76 all.
Furman wins it in double overtime, 90 - 88
Damn, woulda been huge for WCU and a solid chink in Furman’s armor in the race for conference.
Longwood at home over VMI, 65-45
Troy hit a shot with 11 seconds left to allow UNC-G to edge Elon, in Elon, by 1. Game close all the way. Elon is only 3-7, with not even that tough a schedule.
Ga. Southern kicked Mercer around in Macon, giving them their first home loss.

UNCG apparently played this one without James Dickey. See box score at: https://www.nmnathletics.com//pdf9/54801...1516799502

That might help explain why the score was so close, and why they got outrebounded by Elon 37-32. Elon was ranked 287th in Kenpom and should not have been able to play them close.
Furple struggled (a little) against a 'decent' Charleston Southern team night before last to go 11-0. They were only up 2 with 10 minutes left, but slowly pulled away late.

Mercer is still finding their way, I'd expect more of these on the way. The SoCon is so tough this year, it's amazing. I'm pretty jealous of Furman, but also proud of them representing the SoCon with a ranking in the top 25. I hope they keep it going!!

The repeated pattern was that the Paladins would build the lead to about 9 points and CSU would make it close. After CSU cut the lead to 2 with about 9 minutes to go in the game, though, Furman was able to maintain a 9-12 point lead the rest of the way. Considering that Jordan Lyons and Clay Mounce combined to score 30 points less than their season averages that wasn't a bad result.
