With the Big Ticket formally signed, that makes the 2019 class (247 Composite):

- C/PF Wiseman (1)
- PF/SF Jeffries (48)
- C Dandridge (135)

Losses to Graduation / Eligibility:

- G Brewton
- F Davenport
- G Martin
- F/C Parks
- F Thorton

(with thanks to some kids who fought hard for us - good luck to Martin and Tubby's JC brigade, they are good Tigers)

Current Roster for 2019-2020 (Class next Year):

C: Wiseman (FR) / Dandridge (FR)
PF: Jeffries (Fr) / Thomas (RS Soph) / Maurice (Sr) / Enoh (Jr) **
SF/3G: Jones (So) / Wingett (So) **
SG: Harris (So) / Boyce (RS Fr) ** / Hardaway (RS Fr) *
PG: Lomax (So)

* - Potential Walk-On
** - Potential Transfer (not enough minutes?)

Note: We obviously want all the kids we've recruited to play for us, they committed to us and we honor that commitment, but it is common to lose players to transfer over minutes, etc. I starred players who may enter that conversation.

<<< Scholarship Count: >>>

A. All players return and are on scholarship: 12 taken, one available
B. Hardaway goes to walk-on: 11 taken, two available
C. Potential (note: pure guessing) transfers due to minutes / being recruited over: Enoh, Wingett, Boyce

I'd assume we lose one player to transfer and Jayden goes walk-on. Call it 10 on the books, with 3 to give.

<<< Top Targets >>> (247 Composite Ranking)
https://247sports.com/college/memphis/Se...l/Targets/

- (#7) PF Hurt (LINK)
- (#9) SF Achiuwa (LINK)
- (#27) PF Watford (LINK)

Also, I wonder if 2020 'Unicorn Fam' Guards might want to re-classify to 2019 to play with their fellow 'Unicorn' Wiseman

- (2020 #2) G Jalen Green (LINK)
- (2020 @5) G RJ Hampton (LINK)

<<< Who to Prioritize? >>>

Assuming we only have 2 to give, I'm hoping for one of the 2020s to reclassify and the best fit for 2019 out of the forward class (Hurt's shooting or Watford's skill?).

Thoughts?

Heh, heh, oops, thanks!

Fixed.
Malcolm Dandridge has really improved over the last 6 months. He could be the rebounding monster inside this team might need and I can see him starting.
It’s a good question. You’d think Jayden would be moved to a walk on. Beyond that, who knows? Kids transfer all the time so you’d assume we’d have some. We’ll have a good idea if/when it looks like we have more commitments (or players signed) than scholarships available.

This is interesting. I always follow recruiting, and I know kids get run off (Shout out to Jeff Robinson), but how does over-signing work?

Is it a legal gray area? What happens if Penny runs the table and gets 4/5 of those.

If he signs Hurt / Watford or Achiuwa / and gets BOTH 2020 guys to reclassify, that would put us at 15 even with Jayden being a walk-on.

Does anyone have a link to how this works? I found football examples, non for basketball.

I also feel awful for wondering about if guys we're rooting for now will be transfers. Seems a bit dirty, even if it is part of high level college teams...

Scholarships are for one year only. The school does not commit to keeping a player for four years when he signs.

I know that's the letter of the law, but we all know the kid thinks he will be there for his entire college career at the onset...

It is what it is, I feel bad about it, but not bad enough to not salivate at the idea of having a crazy class...
