That plays a role, but so does money. If Charlotte wants him, pay him $300k more than ECU offers.

That is the danger of the echo-chamber that is the internet sometimes. You get a group of people with similar mindsets, regardless of how accurate the opinions are, they get confirmation bias over and over, and sooner than later you are in full delusion. It gets much worse than just sports. Very happy we have some differing opinions over here and not another echo chamber.

Yes, indeed! I remember the jmpoo 90s CAA tourney games and rivalry well. It was intense!!! Loved making fun of Kent’s fake bake tan (although he was a clutch knock down shooter). My favorite memory is not attending the tourney final in Richmond and watching you storm the floor on tv after the victory. You got some serious air time! 04-cheers

Let’s go keep these pukes in their place! GO MONARCHS!

The Kent Culuko shot was the 2nd semester of my freshman year, so they were are biggest rival pretty much the whole time I was at ODU.

We share the same memories (96 is the year I graduated). I was ticked for weeks after culuko hit that shot in the final - one of the most heart breaking losses ever (still hurts). And then jmu disappeared and Blizzard showed up for UNCW (and they faded away after Blizzard graduated). Great stroll down memory lane.

Oh yeah .... no one can even tell that CNN, MSNBC. etc., etc., etc. have any political bias at all. LOL.

Getting this 'sports' topic back on message, I was hoping that the JMU coach would end up at Charlotte, but once ECU rushed onto the scene I suspected he would have some strong second thoughts. Stronger football conference, better facilities, bigger fan base, and better football tradition, are hard to overlook - not to mention they likely have made a bigger offer than Charlotte did.

Well yeah.
JMU delusional blather notwithstanding, Charlotte was a step up. ECU is at least a step and a half.

I was there. It made for a long solemn ride home from Richmond. ODU had some very strong rivalry games during that time (80's - 90's) with JMU. Their current coach was one of their very good players during that time.

Charlotte does have a couple of things going for it over ECU. It is in a better local for the students to have something to do when they aren't playing football. Also, that job would probably be less stressful as far as having to get success as quickly at Charlotte as it would likely be at ECU.

...it still hurts for me to think about it. One of the top three toughest losses to process. If the younger fans only appreciated it, they would show up with the same passion tomorrow as for the vcu game. This win is ALWAYS meaningful - just like VT will always enjoy beating us in football going forward. You never forget when your heart is deeply broken.
I see some ecu fans saying they've heard hes waiting on App. I hope they yank his offer too

There are quite a few of us in here who were students then. Those were great years for the program and created life long fans. Other than VCU, I enjoy beating JMU the most... in any sport.

It wasn't just "the shot". We blew a 19 point second half lead in that one.

That surprises me.
Charlotte has more long term upside than App. If it ever get's serious about basketball again, it is would be the leading CUSA candidate to move to the AAC.
App will likely never be in that position.
JMU loses to Colgate in the 2nd round of the FCS playoffs.

With their coach moving on, this could be the end of the line for JMU football relevancy for years to come. 05-stirthepot

AAC ready baby!!!
That should settle the FBS vs. FCS question for me. I'd rather play VT at home than to go on the road and lose to toothpaste.
