Idk if it was mentioned but I thought this was interesting

If this is true, looks like UTA powers are holding back on us.

Could be a situation that, if they decide to announce the return, they want to do it with as much flash as possible.
If the UTA powers really wanted to start football they would just announce something. All of this info that has been reported has come from information requests that the school eventually had to release. I still don't see football coming anytime soon as long as the people in charge are saying it has to be funded through donations. Don't think that is going to happen with the current alumni base.

even tho there are over 220,000 alumni, the older ones with some money to spend probably still have a bad taste in their mouth from the way it was handled when football was eliminated. I know I do. in the many years since then the school has not shown any real serious motivation to support any of the sports at a high level. even the 78 million dollar arena was sold to folks as merely a multi purpose facility. no sports minded university would have ever played D1 basketball at a place like Texas Hall. coaches have not been on any hot seat to win because of lack of funding and so-so facilities. gone are top a 25 swimming program, golf used to be very good and did I mention we once had an improving football program. the firing of long time successful basketball coach recently may be a sign that the tide is turning but I will believe it when I see it.

I'm hoping that you guys will get football back. A school the size of UTA should have a D1 Football Program.

Yes, we're so big it's almost embarrassing. 2 or 3 thousand more students and our enrollment will pass UH. We're within spitting distance of UT and TAMU, and more than twice the enrollment of TCU and SMU combined. It's getting harder to be patient.

UTA's size is also an argument against adding football. The school is having no trouble growing despite not having football. The evidence that UTA can grow and prosper without football is a strong argument against spending money on football.

I dont think many schools sponsor football to build their student body but more to offer the complete university package. I've said this before but one of my favorite statements on the subject is what the leader of SMU said years ago...no self respecting university would go without football no matter the cost.

Did the Georgia State supporters hear this kind of nonsense when they were working to get football started? Enrollment is only relevant insofar as it indicates how much funding could be generated by student athletics fees. Thanks, runamuck, for raising the BS flag!
