UAB Ignite Website

• What is IGNITE?
Ignite is an initiative to increase the Blazer Boosters membership base, fortify a foundation for continued financial growth, and position UAB athletics to compete at the highest level of college athletics.

• Why is IGNITE so important to UAB Athletics?
There is strength in numbers, and Blazers want to be the best in everything that we do. In comparison to all other Conference USA schools, UAB ranks 7th in total donors to athletics. Nationally, other peer metropolitan institutions have a larger base of support. In order to be the best in Conference USA and leaders on a national stage UAB Athletics needs to be successful in growing support for Blazer student-athletes.

• How are gifts to IGNITE used?
All financial support garnered through Blazer Boosters membership will enhance the student-athlete experience directly through scholarship support, building new or enhancing athletic facilities or supplementing sport specific operating budgets. Gifts through IGNITE can be designated per the donor's request.

• How does IGNITE impact Blazer student-athletes?
Providing the best support to our student-athletes is the top priority for Blazer Boosters. As the membership base grows to comparable levels of peer metropolitan institutions, Blazer student-athletes will benefit from increased scholarship support, state of the art facilities and opportunities of overall growth in the UAB Department of Athletics.

• What are the benefits of giving to UAB Athletics?
The greatest benefit of giving to UAB Athletics is the direct impact you will have on Blazer student-athletes. Additionally, supporting UAB Athletics financially provides an opportunity for growth and positions the Blazers to not just compete, but be leaders nationally. Blazer Boosters members also have access to other benefits detailed in the annual membership guide (view online) and Ever Loyal Society brouchure (view online) based upon their level of support.

• Can this help me attain better seats in the new downtown stadium?
Yes! Seats in the new downtown stadium will be allocated based upon Blazer Boosters Priority Points System. Points are accumulated through areas such as lifetime giving, annual giving and consecutive years of giving and will provide the best opportunity to attain great seats in the new downtown stadium.

• Can I spread my gifts out over a period of time?
Yes. Anyone interested in supporting Blazer Athletics through IGNITE has the opportunity to maximize their gift by establishing equal monthly payments to be completed in a calendar year.

1594 donated so far to ignite
Blazer Boosters, Football Excellence Fund, Honorary Coaches, Football Foundation, UAB Ignite... diluting the message a little bit with the redundancy.

Is that 1594 individuals or $?? Also are these new donors?? If so, we have moved way up on the pecking order listed for other metropolitan peer institutions.

+1 Inquiring minds want to know....
No clue, it’s a crowd funding site and that is the number of donora.
It looks like that's the number of donors that have given so far in 2018. My name is on the list and I haven't given since the Ignite campaign was announced (plan to tomorrow). A lot of people/businesses tend to wait until the last month of the year to make their charitable contributions.

If that's the case we need 268 people to get us even with 2017. The goal of 1,965 is to match/exceed UTSA.
Where is the list? I could not find it.

There are so many different avenues: blazer boosters, football excellence fund, ignite and others that it is becoming hard to keep up with what is what.

I am a Blazer Booster, does that count toward the Ignite figure? Seems like a lot of smoke and mirrors used to generate these numbers.

The community tab has the list of donors.
I added my business.
Added wife and daughter!

if you are an active blazer booster, you are included in the ignite number. You can be counted more than once by making a small donation in the name of family. You can also make a donation and not have your name appear on the list by checking the box that says anonymous
When you click the link to donate it provides a number of funds to donate to. Anyone have any advice on which sport(s) need it the most?

Basketball
As a reminder, donations are tax deductible except for those associated with tickets. All sport gifts, facility gifts and scholarship fund gifts not tied to tickets are deductible.
Looks like they haven't exactly had the success they were probably hoping for. Less than 100 new donors since the program was launched.
There's still quite awhile to go. This is about long-term goals, not the instant gratification that seems to be so prevelant today.
I still find it hard to believe our # are that low w/ all the fund raising in the return of football & Campaign for UAB plus all the season ticket holders for the various sports that give.
It's not that hard to believe. You can sit at the 50 yard line at legion field without giving a dime. Bartow is more than half empty for most games meaning you can buy a GA ticket and sit most anywhere. There are many people who are not a part of blazer boosters who have donated in other capacities (pledges to bring back football for example) and who may think of themselves as boosters without being included in the above number.

The new stadium will improve the situation, as will simply getting the word out about what this program is trying to accomplish to a larger audience.
